Accurate MSRP

Hey folks. Looking for a little help and insight. My wife and I looking to upgrade from our small Hideout. My wife hasdecided she likes a 2014 Forest River 26TBUD.

Our first purchase in 2009, we were at mercy of dealer as we were financed through them. This time we have gotten financing through our bank, so we have got flexibility.

Anyway....how do I know what the accurate MSRP is. I know from reading in here you can try to work aboit 30% below that. The one we are looking at is looking being offered for $20098.Any help is appreciated.
  • Agree on checking with your lender. Also might check NADA/new prices...you would need to add options for the price on that. If their price started at $28, dropped to $21, if you go with something in the mid $20's and ask for the WDH to be thrown in, I'd bet you're pretty close. Good luck.

Thanks, folks. I guess I knew most of this already,it's probably that I hate playing the game. LOL.

For instance, the camper at the following link...http://www.campersinn.com/inventory/359104/New-2014-Forest-River-RV-Salem-26TBUD.aspx...

The MSRP listed is 28K, the have "cut" it to 21K. Am I to start at 25-35% from the cut price?...Most dealerships have it listed withing 1-2k of the cut price.

    Thanks again for any input!
I am not familiar with Forest River but I do know that you can go to the Jayco and Open Range web sites and build your own RV. They have the MSRP attached to your final build. Maybe Forest River has the same on their web site?

  • Getting an accurate and true MSRP on an RV is about as likely as getting a front row center tickets to a Springsteen concert.

Shop a couple of dealers and play the, "game."
Using your shoes to negotiate has worked for us...we walked, they chased us to the parking lot or called us later.
  • I look on rvtrader.com and compare prices, both sale and msrp. Remember, Indiana prices are typically cheapest because they don't have to pay a hauler yo ship the tt to the dealer.
  • The "S" in MSRP is for suggested and the dealer can put any number the want. Find the same trailer in more then one place to check prices. 30% would be good for an average but you could get more or less off depending on how low the dealer is suggesting the price should be.
