ACME nut destroyed

Set up the Camper at the local campground and was checking the propane and look what I found.



Camper is less than 3 months old.

Guess I’ll be adding a new pigtail as the gas to pull the trailer to the dealer is more than the pigtail.

Anyone ever experienced this?

LP ACME Nuts should be installed hand tight....and seal,
Should NOT need any wrenches/pliers etc to tighten

IF having to use tools..then pigtails are too short and binding...as evicenced by the tight loop/90* your pigtail is having to make from reg to Cylinder OPD

I've read about those cheap Chinese junk pigtails.

There is something about the coeficient of the radial expansion along the longitudinal axis of these connectors on my truck camper - I install them nicely hand tight on the cylinders. One of them sometimes needs a water pump plier and a rag to move it to disconnect. The other is removeable by hand...

I'm not really surprised... I've always thought that the gas lines to the tanks are very stiff. Seems like a lot of sideways pressure when I screw those connectors on. Add in lowest bidder to make the part, and that's what you get.

Not me...I stop at tight is good, not tighter is better! 🙂
