Aftermarket mirrors

For those that have installed these, are the aftermarket tow mirrors worth the money quality wise? I am not talking about the slip on mirrors. I am referring to the extendable large towing mirrors. Pricing seems to be all over the map, from $125 to $450 for power, heated, turn signal mirrors.

I had the CIPA slip on mirrors.

I have a 2005 Suburban, and I would one day like to get the CIPA Magna Extendable Full Replacement mirrors, with power adjustable glass and heat. These mirrors match the more rounded design lines of the 2000-2006 GMT800 full size Truck & SUV body style (Part Number 70700). Post edited to include part number.

However, my current OEM mirrors have so many more features in addition to heat and power adjusting glass, including power folding mirror body, reverse tilt curb view, auto electrochromic dimming at night (yes, the outside mirrors), built in turn signals, puddle lamps, and memory adjustment settings for 2 drivers. I've been having a hard time giving up all those features, which is why I continue to use the CIPA clamp ons instead.

Marquette: What kind of CIPA mirrors did you have? The CIPA slip ons, or the CIPA full replacement mirrors?

I've seen the OEM mirrors from GM start to extend on their own, so it's not just isolated to the knock off brands.
I am also looking for a set of mirrors like this for my suburban. I don't like how much of a blind spot the standard mirrors have, and IMHO the tiny stick on blind spot mirrors aren't really worth any thing.

I put a pair on my 2001 Suburban. Just got back from a 2500 mile trip to Colorado and mine never moved. Got mine from Martins Auto Parts on eBay for $113 for the pair with free shipping. Came in about 4 days. I really like them better them my CIPA mirrors. I don't notice any vibration or excess wind noise. They do kind of make the Suburban look like it has Mickey Mouse ears.

The mirrors I received do not extend by themselves and have virtually no vibration. They have worked very well for me over the last year.

A few of the reviews on Amazon said the mirrors extended by themselves.

I will be placing an order tonight so more research is required I guess.

The only reason I don't want the slip over style is the field of view. It's nice to see alot more of your surroundings.

I got the tow mirrors from A1Auto for my 2013 silverado and they vibrate, they also will start to extend by themselves. Sorry can't get the video to work, they look the same as the ones posted above.

I bought a set of power knock offs for my Silverado on ebay for the same money as the clip ons. Took about an hour to install and they look and act just like OEM. Very pleased.

I put a set of CIPA remote adjustable and heated replacement mirrors on my 2001 Dodge 2500. Really liked them, straight forward to install. fit and worked well with no vibration issues. Pricy though.

Look at what mirrors were available on the 2006 GM trucks, I assume they would fit. If so Look for some take offs on EBAY.

This is a good option.

I got a set of mirrors form 1AAuto.com that I just finished putting on my Suburban.

I was using CIPA slip-ons before. Tomorrow will be my first tow with the new ones.

My F150 had the factory tow mirrors and I loved those to death. These new ones are somewhere in between those and the CIPA slip-ons. Some vibration, but not too bad.

The ttt Schefenacker mirrors are very good quality. They were expensive when I purchased mine for my 03 GMC and I think they are no longer manufactured. You could likely buy a set used. I no longer tow with my old GM that I should probably put the originals back on it and sell the TTT's.
