Air Bags-Ram 1500

My neighbor just installed air bags on his 2015 F150 and swears by them. I know that they will not increase my payload (Ram's payload numbers are low), but he did say that it will help with stability and helping take some wear off my suspension. For $450.00 are air bags a good investment? I'm new at tt and towing. Our tt loaded is about 7k and my 1500 is rated for 8600 lb with a payload of 1436 lb. Thanks for any input.
  • My opinion is that rear suspension aides mask overloaded situations and make WDH adjustment more complicated. I think they are also unnecessary with proper WDH adjustent for most bumper pull trailers.
  • I have the Timbren's on my 2013 Ram 1500.Wouldn't pull without them. When not loaded you don't know they're on the truck.Have had air bags in the distant past and hated having to fuss with adding and letting out the air.
  • Air bags or any rear suspension enhancement product will help improve the handling. I actually use Timbrens on my 2500. Don't need them but like the extra stability they provide. Contrary to what some think, just because you're looking to get better handling doesn't mean you don't have enough truck. It's no different than wanting to improve the handling on a car or motorcycle.
  • Check out the firestone air lift 1000s. They fit inside your rear coils and are $100. There are also stiffer rear coils that are an easy diy swap. They are called tuftruck rear coils and tgey are $175 or so.
