I presently pull a 30' 7000lb empty 5th wheel with a 5.7 Hemi. By the time my Golden Retriever goes to heaven my 2014 will probably have between 140 and 200 on the OD. I'm a fan of overkill. Thinking about getting a reg cab 3500 dually with the 6.4 Hemi engine but not sure how hard the ride would be. My present Dodge rides acceptably well for a heave duty truck. Anyone have this post 2014 truck? Not a fan of diesels.

Wife and 80# goldendoodle wouldn't fit in a reg cab and I don't want to get rid of either.

Properly air the tires for the load and it will ride VERY nice! Get the factory rear air option.

If a regular cab will work for you I would say go for it. For around town I use my regular cab over my crew cab long bed.

On a much more basic level. A regular cab does not have enough seating.
I once had a 2 seat sport car. Having only 2 seats got to be a hassle many times.
I think the same would apply to a truck. 3 passengers max. would get to be a problem.

Actually a std cab LDT is popular out here in farm and ranch country with a feeder bed and a hyd bale spear on the back....however most will be a bed delete or a CC model.
Small rural town dealers or rural area bigger city dealers is your best bet.

I need a crew cab with a wife, 2 kids and a dog. I had 2 regular cabs before kids. The thing I miss about them is how well the A/C cools down the small area. I assume they use the same A/C for all the different cabs. With half the space its twice as cold.

I have been thinking like the OP that my next truck could be regular cab.
That is if life is simple enough to not require more. Time will tell.

LOL, I can't argue with that! :B Saying that the CTD is pretty easy to drive and sweet with the manual tranny!

I had a regular cab 1994 F-150 that I bought new. It was also 2wd. Those were 2 big mistakes that I would never make again.

I would have a very tough time going back to a regular cab truck, especially after having the Megacab! :B
