Anybody besides me using old school WD hitch?

I'm still a forum newbie, and one thing I've noticed is all the talk about the newer WD hitches like Hensley and Equalizer. When I go camping, I guess I don't really pay attention to others' hitches. Before discovering this site, I thought most people used the old school bars with chains and a separate anti sway bar. I can use an old pipe for leverage if needed to set the chain tension. That's what my dad used and it's what I use. It's simple to set up and gets the job done with no issues for me. Am I truly in the minority as it seems by reading the threads here?

I have the bars and chains on my 2000 Terry 24' TT that I tow with a 2010 F150. I generally use them every time, although I don't always use the sway control. My trailer never seems to sway. I also have the integrated trailer brake controller with anti-sway control. Very Neat! If the truck notices excess sway, it activates the trailer brakes to straighten it out. I hope I never get to experience it though!!

We have a Husky WDH and a single friction sway bar.

I have felt just a bit of sway as we are passed by the big trucks but wind does nothing and it's always windy here it seems.

Old school here.

I have a Husky round bar with the chains and a friction anti-sway device.
Thanks,

yes.
old time equalizer hitch with the chains .
it could be vintage 1981.
it does , however , have a recent nice matte black spray-can finish .
grandpa-gene had it laying around in his shed and gave it to me when i bought my first travel trailer .
that was 18 years ago .
i started towing boats in 1964 .
don't need no stinkin' equalizer for that .

I have a Reese dual cam with chains. I also have an old Reese Strait line but think I'll sell it.

That's true -- as far as the mechanism goes.

However, the Equal-i-zer has potential for creating several times as much sway-resisting torque as a friction "sway bar" can.

I have the old fashioned WDH on my 1988 Avion 34' TT and I don't even have a WDH on my 19' Camper/Trailer with my Avion C-11 on it. I just took it to the Overland Expo in Flagstaff, AZ and in cross winds at 65-75 MPH it did just fine. Old school works for me.

I love my old fashioned, reliable, wd hitch and dual friction sway control.

You are not unsafe if you don't use one of the different friction sway control devices (which the DC and the Equal-i-zer are) as a matter of fact sway control is not about what brand hitch you have.

Note: I have both Dual Friction bars and DC devices. I prefer the friction bars over DC. Equal-i-zer is about the same. The only difference is that Equal-i-zer uses metal on metal friction while a sway bar uses metal on brake pad material.

NOTE: If your trailer is over 25 ft you need to use TWO friction bars. Many people miss this and go from one and skip the second which would have taken the rest of the wiggle out of the rig and go straight to a DC or something else.

Thanks!

I use the standard spring bar for weight distribution and a single friction bar for sway control. I've towed fairly short trailers and sway hasn't been a problem .

Alignment --In simpler terms the worse pulling trailer I have ever towed was found to have left side axles center to hitch center versus right side axles center to hitch center off by 3/16 of an inch. Does not sound like much but it fought you all the time while towing.
