Agree 100% with you. Folks who don't have RVs would not understand, but if you own one and do all of your own maintenance, you understand they are fragile and easily damaged inside and out if you don't know what your doing. As you said, my rig if i hurt it, that's on me. I let someone borrow it and it comes back damaged, that's another story.
I let my brother borrow my pickup once years ago, he went to pull out onto a highway, but didn't see a car coming and stopped suddenly and got rear ended. I was sick about that for weeks and that ended him borriwing my vehicles. But i am very ocd about my equipment.
Things happen no matter how careful you are. If it were mine, no way I'd want a patch job on that rear wall, but that's just me. Make it right for him and move on. Hope it all works out
