I was fixing a water leak that was unrelated to the fresh water tank under my TT this weekend and looking at my fresh water tank and I was wondering if my tank supports look ok.I know that R-Vision has had issues with tank supports failing in the past so I figured I would ask everyone here.My tank seems curved so I think it is ok...I usually don't travel with the tank full, on long trips I might fill it 1/4 full so we have water when we stop. The only time I travel with it full is when I go to the August race at Pocono Raceway which is about 2hrs away.Thanks for any input........Chris

Looks pretty janky to me. Could you maybe put an additional pipe strap in that location. What would worry me more is the way those wires are located. Any chance you can attach them securely.

Wouldn't have too much confidence with the way the tank is currently supported. Not being able to carry a full tank of water whenever needed would be an issue I would be very unhappy about, not sure what the engineer's were thinking with that flawed design. Shore it up before you have some kind of mishap that could ruin a nice outing.

I would almost bet that your tank was not curved when it was installed. It has sagged over time, and would likely respond well with having a solid and much wider series of supports under it.

I had to redo mine under my Montana last year. They were just flat straps zipped screwed to the frame. One had broke and rest sagging. Tank was also moving from side to side.

When my underbelly started to sag, I switched to stretch pants. ;)

Seriously, I added heavy pipe strap cris-crossing under my fresh water tank. Don't know if it helps, but it makes me feel better.

There is no doubt that you can pressurize a non pressurized tank if you aren't careful. That can cause them to expand, which may bend or break the mount and can also burst the tank. Having said that, the OP's mount is seriously too weak for the weight of that tank that is pictured. At 8.33# per gallon, water gets heavy real quick. My belief is to over build the mounts with a good base and you won't go wrong.

The design of the base system is flawed. You can insert a hose in the water inlet to the trailer and fill the tank to a damaging pressure level. The fill hose can outpace the vent and leakage around the fill hose fittings. You can create very high hydraulic pressures that will damage the tank and frame parts. This is just another poor design in the RV industry.

When I noticed my fresh water drain pipe starting to slant through the coroplast bottom...I discovered the straps were loose and the tank sagging and curved. I bought a single large piece of L shaped steel and bolted it up to the frame and directly supporting the tank. It worked amazing, and I think it should be standard on all rigs vs metal bands. I also cleaned up the wiring to my brakes etc while I was under there. They take little care to hidden areas. Not a bad diy project in my mind.

Ya, at one time your tank and those angle iron supports under your tank were straight across and not curved. They don't make curve angle iron. They were obviously not strong enough. (The way there attached doesn't look good at all to me either.) I think you have found why other people reported a problem. Good thing you checked. Best to fix it now.

I'm not a fan of the straps, so like in one of the posts I supported mine with wood. I used 3/4" plywood underneath the tank with plywood screwed into the frame cross member angle iron. then ran 1" wide x 1/8" flat bar stock in place of the strapping.

But then we camp close to 90 days/yr, and most of them with full fresh water tank and travel with fresh water tank full most of the time. So it gets lot's of use.

Thats how mine looked so I replaced the whimpy C-channel with unistrut. Problem solved.

The engineer in me says it could use some additional support. Might want to use aluminum to avoid the rust.
