Before this thread gets shut down just think how state governments are now able to tax you on the miles driven. This issue came up in the state of WA because of the fuel efficient vehicles as well as the electric cars on the road. The loss of gasoline tax $ is causing the state legislature to come up with ideas such as this.

NO. One of many reasons I won't buy a new vehicle.

BUT.............
I DO like the computers they have put on cars that are bought at those dealerships that offer no credit check car loans to bums.

The computer beeps when you are late on your payment and when you don't make the payment on time? The car won't start!! AND the GPS gives the dealership the location of the car!! No more big goons with long blond hair and tats roaming the streets looking to repo cars!!!:B:B

I foresee this little computer gem being put on all cars with loans in the not so distance future.

Unless they start this too.....

NSA DIVERTING COMPUTERS

This does not means I believe everything I read but, what if and when and how and who......

Glue mirror tiles upside down on your ceilings.. Confuses the heck out of them. And be sure to carry your cell phone inside an aluminum foil envelope.

O... Are you a blue dot or a green dot? Your neighbors will be chosen for you accordingly.

If corporate America wants to track my every move, I don't really care. They're using the info for marketing. My activities are really pretty boring.

Just marketing? You mean that the NSA have nothing to do with this? Seriously tho. I believe all have black boxes already, right?

I don't think so. If the NSA is involved in any kind of GPS surveillance, I think it would be because you've already raised red flags and got their attention. With well over 300 million people in the US, it would be unrealistic to think someone is watching each of us in our travels. We have GPS on our work phones and company vehicles. No one watches us unless there's reason to believe we're not where we're supposed to be. Otherwise, they have way more important things to do than watch us drive around. When it was new it was a novelty for them as they could pinpoint us within 30 ft. Then the novelty wore off and it was boring. My wife on the other hand... I had a lot of fun when she hid the audio recorder in my truck. Had 'er going for a while.

Do you have a card from Target?? Or a cell phone? How about a discount or membership card from any other retailer. Don't worry about the governments, What they have is nothing compared to what the retail stores know about you. Besides, the government folks are so far behind, they don't know what to do with the information, much less how to do anything about it.

like BenK said.

black boxes in cars/truck for 10 years or more..
location .. and details 30 seconds before an accident.

speed, braking, steering input ... and the more costly the car/truck the more the computer tracks.

just like airplanes.. without sound.

Been going on for decades BEFORE current President...

Part of past life was providing 'stuff' to the government. Military to black badge stuff

Just look at any map on your smart phone and that 'dot' where it says you are can
also be seen by most anyone who wants to

Turn off your GPS and they still can track you via cell tower pings

Black boxes has been vehicles for over a decade

Take a look out on the streets and highway

Flux fields are everywhere (how else can the stop lite know a vehicle is there)
When you see two in a row...gets a bit more info...direction and SPEED. Match
to a rental and the rental company can either or both bill you a very large fine
and/or kill the ignition spot on.

Going away from flux fields (the cut with an embedded wire) and going to micro-wave
antenna pointed at each lane on highways. Much better resolution of info

Smart meters on my power meters telling my usage every minute so that the power
company can dial 'UP' their billing rates.

Library books now have embedded RFID's and I don't have to check out at the
door, as before I get to the door, they know which books I have in hand
Oh, how do they know it is me?...my library card has a RFID and they
can even track where I am in the building...

Much more...

OBTW, the current SNAFU disclosures and all the other countries outraged...does
anyone really think they don't do likewise? Maybe 'we' do it better and that is
the crux of their outrage...

Big yawn....did you know that there's one-and-a-third cell phones PER PERSON in the good ol' U.S.of A.? link
Nobody seems to care about THAT self-inflicted 24/7 tracking system. Why would anyone care about data collection in their car?
