AF uses the better materials, but we had a few quality control issues on ours. Some things were just put together sloppy and I had to fix them. Also a bit heavier than other similar brands.

The extra insulation and double glazed windows are great. I made to mistake the first time we took ours out and used flannel pajamas like I needed in our old Komfort. That was a mistake. I roasted. Even when below freezing outside the heater only cycled a few times at night. It stays warm on winter nights and cool in the summer.

One of the best built trailers I have ever come across! I've had 4 other trailers from Coachman to Thor products and this one is hands down light years ahead of them all! It is a 2010 22h and we love it! All you have to do is shut the door and you will be impressed, they are so solid. Hold heat so well and stays way cooler in the heat than anything we have ever owned. You won't be sorry if you purchase one! Good luck on your hunt!

We are on our 2nd A.F.--we bought new--ordered from Factory(Northwood MFG)in La Grande, Or. Our 1st was a 2003 28 5D which isn't made any more but the folks I sold it to are still using it. We have taken ours to Northern B.C(Yukon Terr.)--to Florida and many points in between, from So. Calif. Our 29 5T has done everything we had hoped for with very few problems--nothing major. Also, the fact that you can call up the factory and get legitimate answers and advice is great. The fact that Northwood makes the trailer as well as the camper
is huge and that they come standard with shocks, heavy duty frame and are built as a 4 seasons camper just adds to the quality of the product.:) Lars

We enjoy ours, we bought it used and had some minor issues to take care of but really like it. It is higher and wider and longer than the one had we previously, so mpgs are down some, even when towing below 60. Compared to some others (like my Dad's new toyhauler), quality is good. We were considering buying new, but the budget did not allow it. We had planned on ordering from dealer in LaGrand, Oregon that is close to the dealer, spending a week in the local campground and getting any issues fixed while we were there, but the used one is working out fine.

Love them! Our first was a 2001 29v we had it for 13 years, wanted to get a center kitchen so now we have the 30U. When we were looking for the center kitchen we looked and many other brands and they just were not as well built (sturdy wall construction, insulation, materials) for off road design and winter use like the NW did.

We primarily boon-dock off road and in winter with them so rough roads and cold. You'll notice one thing about NW is the frame, how high they sit and the dump valve location over other TT MFG's. Perfect for off road. The overall body construction holds together on the constant rough roads and the heater will still cycle in below zero degrees.

I did exactly what you are thinking of doing. Just last year, we order a 2016 AF 25R optioned out just the way we wanted it.

Overall we are pleased with the trailer, however workmanship leaves a lot to be desired. Very poor plumbing connections and poor electrical wire runs and terminations being the major issues along with other numerous minor things where corners were cut to save costs and expedite getting them built and out the door.

I remedied all the defects myself rather than haul it back to the dealers 90 miles away. Would I have bought another brand of trailer knowing the defects and lack of quality control? No, after much researching before we ordered our Arctic Fox, I could not find anything better in the size range and construction that I was looking for.

A lot of good information on the Northwood RV Owners Association forums at: NROA

I had an AF 990 camper for 8 years and have had my 27-5L 5th wheel for a year. The company and my dealer are honorable and have always treated me fairly. The campers are both built well and have only required minor "fixes" during the warranty periods.

I suggest going to the NROA site and browsing around. Www.nroa2003.com

Three trips so far with our 2016 25Y.
This is our 5th trailer...all different manufacturers.
Could not be happier. Heads and tails above the rest in engineering and quality.

Contact me if you have questions or want a tip on a great dealer.
We also ordered ours with some customs changes.
