Atwood Water Heater 6GA-8E

I am getting to much flame around the adjustable gas tube and is melting the wires. I have adjusted both ways and it still occurs. Can someone give me an idea of whats going on. I am worried something will catch fire but I don't want to have to constantly monitor it. Thank you
  • Clean out the burner tube.

It could be the regulator but that's highly unlikely. Especially if all your other appliances are working normally.

This is the time of year that spiders and wasps are building their new summer homes.

Pull the tube and run small brush or wire through to clean out spider web and you're good to go.

    This ^^^^^

AND run a wire thru combustion chamber out thru exhaust then tie rag to wire and pull it back thru to clean the 'U' tube out

AND with burner tube off.unscrew the main gas orifice (brass insert where burner tube attaches to gas valve)
Soak it in alcohol and then blow it out....NO poking things thru the orifice No/No
  • the regulator at my tank?
Thanks for the replies I will check the regulator and clean with a wire brush.
