Automatic headlight sensor on my 2000 sierra

I balanced the driveshaft on my old truck. Now smooth as can be !! but my headlights stay on all the time. Not sure if sensor is bad, or what. I can hit dome override 3 times and shut off lights, but am wondering if I can bypass sensor and control just from switch and still have DRLs on during day?

I know this sounds like a very simple question, but you do have the headlight switch set to "auto" don't you?
