Back Up Camera Install Help

Can anyone give me an idea of where the revers switch is on my 2013 Ram 2500 5.7L Hemi 4x4? I have scoured the internet and haven't found anything. I am trying to connect my Rear View Safety Camera RVS 770614-213. I have power to the camera and monitor. I tried to power the system off the reverse light, so when I put the truck in reverse it automatically displays the video image and grid lines. However, when I did this the video monitor togles between a black screen and the reverse image and the grid lines flash on and off. Rear View Safety Tech Support said I need to find another reverse power source and recommended the reverse switch. I found information that indicates the Reverse Switch or Neutral Safety Switch is somewhere on the transmission. I could not find a reverse power wire anywhere under the dash. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
  • I connected my system to a running light so I can have it on in forward or reverse. I just have to turn on the parking or headlights.
  • connected mine to running lights also. now works while driving down road.
not sure why it is going on and off. do you have good voltage, and a good ground

Power a relay from the reverse lights, and then power the rear view kit from the relay (relay wired to battery or some other constant 12v source).

I'm not certain, but a computer might be monitoring the power for your backup lights, to detect bulb failure, and that interferes with your camera kit.
  • I just spliced into the wiring for my back up lamps at the taillight. Not sure why yours is losing signal, but I would check the connections. I'm using my edge insight for the monitor.
  • Thanks everyone. I found a wiring diagram, so I'm going to try and find a wire closer to the BCM that controls the reverse lights.
