I wouldn't use the weather stripping idea. As I did that on our 2006 mega can and found it leaking.
What I did recently was I removed the flooring and found a spot where I could drill through at an angle and add a grommet there to keep the moisture down and out. Haven't had any issues with it and since the wire lays flat no marks in the carpet. I seal around the outside just incase.
Last two trucks have done this and no issues.
