back up camers on TT

I have a 2015 StarCraft autumn ridge and I think it has a backup camera on the back, top center. If this is a real camera, how do I get it work? I tried to call the dealer, which was a joke, never got anyone to answer the phone. Do I need to purchase anything else to make it work? I hook my truck up to the camper and thought it would work with the in dash backup camera in truck but nothing happen. If anyone has any type information, I would really appreciate it.
  • OK, I got on top of TT, removed cover where camera was suppose to be and found NO camera. What I found was provisions for a camera----a 6 inch cord with a plug for a camera. I thank all that helped me on this issue.

Contact StarCraft with the VIN and ask them to send you the build sheet.

Jack, what is a build sheet?
  • There is a backup camera system, listed as an option on Starcraft Autem Ridge campers. However, it says it is a wireless system. That may be a camera you're looking at, but, your connection between truck and trailer has nothing to do with it.

If in fact, you have the camera option, there should be a monitor included with the books and parts that came with the trailer. I would think the dealer would have covered that in your PDI.

Another possibility is, you're looking at the housing that would hold a camera, if you had that option installed, and it's empty. In that case, there won't be a monitor, either.

It being an optional system, not all of that model will have it.

As far as calling the dealer, you may have better luck tomorrow. Very possible they are closed on Mondays.
  • Welcome to the Forum...
Dealer is no help...why not contact the manufacturer directly.
    Here is their phone number:

  • If there is a camera up there then you will need to find out some information. Simply plugging in the trail pigtail to your truck isn't going to make it display in your truck.

See if you can find some information about the camera in the package of books/manuals that you got with the trailer. Maybe that can point you in the right direction.

It's either going to be a hardwired camera or a wireless camera. If it's a full wired in camera then you will need to run the wires all the way into the cab of the truck (pretty messy solution if you ask me). If it's wireless then the receiver will need to be hooked up to a monitor in the truck. Best place to go would be a speciality audio shop that does work on 12v car radios and cameras.
