Banks Speedbrake on a Duramax

My buddy had one in an 04 or 05 dmax. He didn't like it he said it would downshift and the engine would over rev going down the hill. He took it out after calling banks a few times.

Just wondering why you want to go with a Banks Speedbrake on your 08 Duramax. Why not just use Tow Haul and the Grade Braking feature.
It sure works great for me.

Needs a little more with 15,500#s pushing. New models have them as oem. GCW is 23,400.

The Banks Speedbrake is just a software package that allows for more aggressive grade braking performance from the VVT just like the newer Dmax/A has.

Good info in the clicky and also Killerbeeperformance also has a same type turbo grade braking performance tune that is popular with lots of GM folks who need more.

Huh I agree, nice link there. I agree though I'd skip the Gale Banks and go to killerbee or that link, but again this is the Internet so I'm not positive about the information on the DMAX forum. Sounds logical though.

Lots of GM owners disagree.
I've seen these type posts about Banks and other aftermarket products/tune programs also.
I was told the same thing in '03 when I asked about the new Edge box on the TDR website for the new HPCR Cummins HO. 11 years and 240k miles later this box has had zero issues for my Cummins. I'm sure others disagree.

I have a turbo brake on my 06 Duramax from DuramaxTuner.com. You can have them program one for your truck for $300. I absolutely love mine. You can go on Youtube and watch Nick from Duramaxtuner give a demonstration. Search "duramaxtuner turbo brake". ATPtrucks.com is another good place to look. Give these guys a call. The really do know their stuff when it comes to Duramax;)
