I am looking into buying a used TT.
The battery was stolen from the unit.

I need to tow it 125 miles home if I buy it.

Do I need a battery hooked up on the trailer.
I am new to towing a TT.

It is a R-Vision Trail-lite Crossover 19' and weighs less than 3,000#

Thanks to all who respond. Jim

If it really is less than 3000lbs, you don't need brakes. Unless the weight of the trailer exceeds 40% of the weight of the tow vehicle. It's also 3000lbs in my state and I have an enclosed snowmobile trailer with a gvwr of 2990. Imagine why they picked that number?

Each state has outs own laws concerning maximum weights that can be towed without brakes. Check your states requirements to know if it's against the law but doubt if any states would allow that much without brakes.

Hi,

Just buy the battery you wish to use and install it when you reach the trailer.

Roy is correct; everything will work off from your 7-pin, from your truck. You are required to use available break away.

You will have to decide, if you want to tow home without the breakaway being operational.

YES - if it has installed Electric brakes. The battery on the TT supplies power to the electric brakes in case of trailer break away when being towed. Required by DOT...

Any 12VDC battery will work for this to get you home. Even a Sears riding mower battery..

All of the 12VDC power for the trailer safety lights including electric brakes will be provided by your truck 7-way connection.
