Bedliner - Sprayin or what?

Shopping for a new F150. I want some type bed liner and Ford offers a sprayed liner.I have looked at Dual Liner as an alternative to the sprayed in.

Anyone have experience with Dual Liner or other add-on bed liner?
Should I go with sprayed in, factory or aftermarket?

Another fan of DualLiner here. Easy to install, everything fit into place. Tailgate part I installed with bolts as directed. I also put a tonneau cover over the bed of the truck.

Valid question -- what is it going to be used for? In my case, the truck is strictly for towing my trailer, so it will likely have, at some point, a generator, some bikes, and firewood in the back. If I were going to haul stuff as a work truck, I don't think I'd put any sort of bed liner in.

I considered the factory spray in, but no. I can have a Rhino done cheaper with a better warranty, so it goes to the shop as soon as it gets here and before I sign for the truck.

Another Line-X fan here. I guess mine is UV stable because it has never chipped or peeled off. My daughter had one, I put one in my '08 and when I got my '17 I put another one in. I haul firewood, lots of yard waste and an occasional load of gravel.

I also bought a rubber matt for the bed. It sits on the sprayed in liner, holds things in place and is much easier on the knees. It is a bit of a job to remove it now and then to clean out the bed but I don't do it that often.

If I had a cover on my truck and never used it to haul wood and rocks, I think I would go with the carpeted bed mats people talk about. They sound pretty nice.

My last truck had Line-X. I used my truck like a truck. I would get gravel, concrete blocks and firewood with my truck. I was pretty disappointed with my Line-X. For my current truck I went with the Bedrug Bedtred. It is thinner than traditional Bedrug and has the appearance of a spray in liner. It gets ripped from the same workload, but hasn't gotten down to bare metal like the Line-X did. Its softer on my knees. Its not slippery like a drop in, but also not rough like a spray in. It was also a couple hundred dollars cheaper (autoanything with a discount code) than spray in liners. Its UV stable so it hasn't faded like the Line-X did.

I did not beat the bushes looking for a truck. What is two months compared to the years I am going to drive the truck in the config that I wanted? So I got the following add ons on my F250.

1. Factory Spray in Bed Liner - Wouldn't trade it for any other kind. Perfect install and super tough plus looks good.

2. Side moldings. Barely noticeable since they are the same color as the truck and quite narrow. Those things take the beating for the side of the truck in the parking lots.

3. Upfitter switches - Four sources for 12 V power with switches that have an on indicator in the end. Fuel Pump, gauge, high idle, etc

4. 4.30 diffy - Like it for gasser towing. Try to find one of those on the lot.

anyway back to no 1. For me personally it was the only way to go.

Cost of a sprayed in liner may vary, but figure 450-600 bucks.

when I put a drop in liner in my Dakota, I got some sheets of masonite, cut them to fit, and stuck them down with silicone sealer before putting the liner in. all rubbing was against them, not the paint.

The slide liner is great. It’s not the old slippery one of the 90’s. Stuff stays right where you put it. It will rub the paint off. But it won’t cause rust. Wherever the liner rubs it always rubs. So corrosion never starts. Plus my f150 is aluminum. Affordable and durable. I love mine.

similar to Marty...just a landlord who uses the truck as a truck...not every day, but often enough to understand both those who use their 'truck' more as a 'car'...

Both do a good enough job for the majority of the Rv.net/forum crowd...all the way to Marty's full time 'work' crowd...

My drop in has been there since somewhere in the 80's. Has a 1/4" thick sheet of 'green' plywood, glued to the sheetmetal bed bottom. It is also molded to fit 'underneath' the pickup bed's top rail and it also has fasteners that clip underneath the pickup bed top rails. So it will NOT float off out on the highway and also have a cap (which is taken off for 'work'...dirt/gravel/cobble stones/bricks/firewood/etc)

Nephew & neighbor both have CTD 2500HD and around the corner guy has a F350 SuperDuty. All have sprayed on (one factory, other two drop in). They sometimes help with my properties and I help with their properties hauling dirt/gravel/etc.

All four are holding up, with mine the oldest. NONE of ours has had it scraped/dented/etc down past it to the sheetmetal.

Locally, have heard of a couple who found the bad apple applier...think they are there in every locality. Just the luck of the draw and up to the buyer to check them out

IMHO, they are all good and just go out and find the best deal out there.

Bedrug for me.. But I don't dump dirt or gravel or other stuff in the bed of my truck that I need to shovel out either..

I have a little 8' utility trailer (basically the same size is a full size truck bed) do that stuff with..

In all of the posts, no one really said what they normally load in the bed of their truck? If they did, I simply missed it..

So, for me the bed rug is great because I have a flip top tonneau and I load firewood and tools and stuff in there and the rug is nice 'cause it all just rides nice and quiet and is soft on the knees and does clean out pretty easy and a quick vacuum with a shop vac, it's brand new again..

Just the way I use mine.. The utility trailer is my messy truck bed for me.. 🙂

I've had 3 LineX liners, overall very happy. I've had drop in liners as far back as 1980. BOTH if you shovel things in and out a lot, ie daily doing construction type stuff as I have, BOTH options can chip, peal, break, get holes etc. The spray in liner is the better option overall, tougher etc. If you hit the wheel well with a pallet, pushing it in, it can still dent the wheel well, peel part of the liner. Dragging gravel out of the bed with a trackhoe will peel the liner......anyway, probably what most would call abuse of the truck etc compared to what I have done over 35 years doing landscape construction or maintenance. Truck etc doing what it is, a tool of the trade!

If you have a cap and don't plan on carrying anything like a camper, a Bed Rug works really nice. I've had one since my truck was new. It wont damage paint and it's great to crawl in there on your knees to do what ever.
