Best route to Springfield Mo from Northeastern NC

looking for a good route to Springfield Missouri. Have driven through the BR mountains but never pulling a travel trailer. Don't relish the thought but don't see another way. It will be our first lo...

We live about 10 miles south of Springfield and we went to Greensboro a few years ago and our route was (from Greensoro) West on I-40 to I-24 at Nashville then West on US 60 at Paducah KY. US 60 goes all the way to Springfield.
