Glad you opened that one up for us to see creeper. The internals look like they are very high quality and well made. There are a lot of people who use the TRC Surge Guard with very good results including me.

When the plug burned up I called to see if they offer reconditioning but they do not. Seems crazy they will not offer to make minor repairs to their units.
Last year I had the opportunity to buy a used TRC Voltage Regulator #10176 at a significantly reduced price ... great, until it arrived and I plugged it in only to discover as soon as I opened it up that it was fried. :M The transformer itself was fine but the main circuit board was badly melted so I contacted TRC asking for a price on a replacement. Guess what - no replacement, they wouldn't sell me one, saying my only recourse was to buy a new one. Yeah, right - ain't gonna happen, so I contacted the seller who graciously refunded my purchase price and apologized for the grief I went through. I also owned a TRC #34730 Surge Guard that worked fine but never again would I ever purchase any other TRC product knowing the company refuses to offer replacement parts for their products past the 1 yr warranty period.

I’ve had my TRC 30 AMP portable SG for over 9 seasons and one trip under the 10th. I too had to open mine up about 5 or 6 years ago when the plug melted from a bad CG outlet. It is not the easiest to get apart due to all the silicone they use but once opened up is serviceable. When the plug burned up I called to see if they offer reconditioning but they do not. Seems crazy they will not offer to make minor repairs to their units.

Progressive Industries PT30C 30 Amp Portable Electrical Management System https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003AL23TC/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_awd_Oa3hxb1EX5GH4
I don't see why it's not legit as the warranty info does say lifetime, just as it should for all Progressive Industries EMS units. That said, $245 US is $310 Cdn and shipping as far as I can tell is only free within the 50 contiguous states ... I'd be awfully cautious about not only additional freight charges to get it from the border to you but also import and brokerage charges which can be substantial. This is one of several reasons I bought a Progressive hard wire model instead of the portable version as the hard wire is field serviceable, meaning if I ever need to repair it Progressive will simply mail me the parts via USPS and I won't have to deal with any additional charges. Not an issue for those in the US but for those of us here in Canada it is, IMO.

Are there different warranties when ordered from Amazon?
I found a progressive industries unit (pt30c) that is sold by Amazon for $245.00 (seems like a great deal). But the description says one year warranty.

I'm curious as to why you would say that???
They are not that important on 30AMP service, however on 50AMP service if you loose neutral you fry all your AC appliances within seconds with 240V across them. Friend motorhome had over 10K of damage for missing neutral leg.
