Black Tank Flush

I have a Flagstaff Microlite 23LB and it has a black tank flush connection on the back. Definitely a newbie question but how does it work? I opened the cover and there is an opening covered by a mesh screen. Thanks for any help.
  • I use mine to fill my black tank shortly before the end of my trip. I prefer to dump the tank while it's full rather than 1/2 full. It also possibly cleans it out

Is the "cover" and "mesh screen" where you would attach a garden hose? If so, that screen is just a standard debris screen built into the washer.

If it is something else, I don't know.

OK, that makes sense. I wasn't sure because the screen made me think it was some kind of vent. I will try it next time we are out. I believe it does look like you can hook a hose up to it.
  • We've had a black tank flush connection on our newest travel trailer for a year now. Haven't used it yet. We'll be staying in a campground with full hookups starting tomorrow. I'll probably give it a run and imagine it's all clean inside. There are a handful of YouTube videos on the subject.

  • I use mine at the dump station all the time. It's the best way to clean out the black tank after dumping. It works great.
  • Garden hose connects to fitting
Anti-siphon vacuum breaker typically installed inside bathroom cabinet
Nozzle installed in sidewall of black tank

Turn water on.....nozzle sprays wetting down sides/bottom of tank
Best to have black tank drain valve open so tank does NOT overfill
IF you close drain valve do NOT leave, get distracted etc.

  • Does the opening with mesh screen look like you would turn a garden hose on it? If so, attach hose to water supply, turn water on to flush. Most say to leave black tank valve open while flushing.
