Bunk Ladder for a Jayco X213

We are going to need a ladder for our new X213 Top bunk. Don't know how tall until we get it next week. I would like to see what everyone else uses. How long is yours? Where did you get it? It's for our 8yo son to use. Thank you.
  • We use something like this rail and no ladder. Our bottom bunk is full size with single over, so plenty of space to climb up.

I made one for our daughter when she was a toddler out of very small PVC pipe and scrap fabric. Two small pipes, one of either side of the rail, fit under the mattress. They connect to the actual rail with a 90 degree fitting. The rail is shaped like a rectangle. It was very inexpensive and took about 5 minutes to build. You could even glue it for added stability but I like being able to break it apart for storage purposes. I had some scrap fabric around and sewed it like a pillow case to slide over the top so she didn't slip through the pipes. Super easy and cheap. Not appropriate for infants.
  • I have to admit that my boys have always done without a ladder. I can't imagine having to compete with it in the small space anyway.

They were 6 and 8 when we bought it, now they are 12 and 10. They just put a foot on the lower bunk, another on the dresser, and shimmy their way up. Has never been an issue for them.
  • Along the same lines, I'd be interested to see what kind of bed rails people are using. Someone in the mods thread did an amazing custom install but I don't think I'd be able to pull that off on the trailer I'm interested in (Jay Flight 32BHDS) due to outdoor kitchen enclosure under the left bunk.
  • Subscribed.
Our kids are big enough now to allow them access to the top bunk and we don't have a ladder. Space is really cramped in that area so I am really interested in what others have done.
  • We have a Jayco 26p. Exact front bunk as yours and this works perfect. Light, strong and easy to store on top bunk when not used. If you would like I can measure the one we have which is a perfect fit.
