Buying today or tomorrow

Morning all.

For those who remember or frequent the thread, I originally posted my aspirations on this thread with hopes to get my needs while doing it with a large SUV.

After some thought, the wife and I scratched the SUV idea and are closing a deal today for a new F150 crew cab with a 3.5l ecoboost and upgraded Tow package. This eliminates the limits on trailer choice. We also increased our trailer budget to $45k CAD. We've narrowed our choices down somewhat but have not committed to either as of yet.

There's the Puma which has everything in our wishlist. Separated bunk house with a true door, outdoor kitchen, second entrance, and internal decor the wife can live with (she prefers lighter neutral colors opposed to the dark's that are more common)

Our current second option is the Rockwood.

Anyone out there have or currently camping with either of these models or similar? Thanks in advance to any advice or suggestions

Be very cautious when towing and check the weather.
In a recent thread I mentioned how I my trailer (which is lighter than yours) and my Dodge 2500 (which is larger than your F150) was blown all over the road by a not so strong winds....
Final notice from MasterCard. Good! I'm sick of hearing from them.

Congrats. I wouldn't put too much weight behind all the doom and gloom. If you don't have one already, get a good hitch that has integrated sway control and you'll be fine. I'm towing towing a trailer that's eerily close to yours with a truck that's less capable on paper and we get by just fine. It's the same layout, just from a different manufacturer. My dry weight is 84 lbs lighter and my dry tongue weight is 33 lbs lighter. You also hail from my wife's hometown lol.

Thanks.

I added the distribution hitch with sway control, so hopefully I will be ok. Also verified that all tanks are in the back of the trailer and loads can easily be spread evenly throughout.

No looking back now 🙂

Halifax for the win 😄

Tongue weight will be 1200#+ after you fill up the front storage area and add propane. I hope the water tank is not forward of the axles. Get a Sureline Scale to help you not overload the truck's hitch/rear axle. A Hensley or Propride hitch may help your towing experience. Good luck!

Nice TT but too much for that truck, but it's too late now! What's the payload on your truck, the yellow sticker on the door say? The dry hitch weight on the trailer is 904 so when loaded it will be over 1000 and the max hitch weight on your truck is probably 1,250 if your max tow is 12,500!

Good luck with the new rig.
Keep a close eye of tongue weight . Limitations of a 150 HD tow package is rear axle weight limited not so much the towing capacity . Tongue weight of TT plus your stuff in the trucks bed . Try to pack the bed with weight in front of the rear axle and watch what you load under the TT island bed storage area. Tongue weight can creep up. Make sure you have enough spring bar on that WD hitch. You could be up there at capacity, get a Sherline TW scale or use the bathroom scale method, google it .

Nice. I like the added lighter colors in the interior as well. This dark brown everything would not fly with me, which = the DH as well. Nice floorplan, love the kitchen. Like the extra door. Very comfortable living. Congrats!

As for the Truck, I stuck with the F150 but included the max tow package bringing me to 12,500 capacity.

All deals are done, so hopefully there is no buyers remorse. :@

Whatever weight the truck says it supposedly 'can' tow. Take that and cut that figure in half add a 1,000 lbs. Buy a TT that weighs that much and you will be a very safe and happy camper running down the road.:C

Those trailers are too much for an F150 imo. Good luck.

I'm thinking it's too late on the truck. Maybe find a lighter trailer
