- BamaBenExplorer1600LB 550-SS on a F-150 with timbrens and hockey pucks cut into wedges and put into leaf springs. Drives like a champ and plenty of room for beer.
- wvabeerExplorerThat camper is really big 8.4s 3173 lbs that one doesn't leave any room for beer. Gotta have beer.
http://www.fordrvs.com/ - whizbangExplorer IIWell. My 3000# "dry" weight 1996 Alpenlite overloaded my 2003 F350 despite the truck having all the suspension upgrades.
Loading a 3000# camper on a half ton? A tad optimistic I'd say. - JIMNLINExplorer IIII don't think any F150 can carry 3250 lbs in the bed of the truck such as a truck camper. Even the 8200 HD GVWR with its small 4800 RAWR.
Example is the F150 HD with the 4800 RAWR. These trucks may have a 2200-2400 lb rear axle weight. Now add 3250 lb payload and the trucks rear axle is at 5400-5600 lbs for a severe overload.
Now if the 3250 lb payload was placed on a overhead rack like a plumber or overhead door service truck which sits in the bed and on the trucks frame up front then a F150 may carry 3250 lbs.
3200 lb payloads range is in a 250/2500 rear axle range (6000-6500 RAWR) - 805greggExplorerLance has a lightweight camper for a 150 shown at the Sema show
- davidafExplorerThe ~3250lb payload capacity on two builds of F-150 actually isn't too bad. A few of the Livin Lite TCs (w or w/o the Ford name slapped on it) would actually work. And like Keytag1 said, that model the 8.4s dry weight of 3027 will leave just enough wiggle room to add a driver and some crackers. Wouldn't be my first choice but, add air bags and load very light it could actually work surprisingly.

Hi Tom, looks like you are about 12 miles from me, so one time we can discuss it over a beer ;)
I'll even buy the first round. :B - Kayteg1Explorer II

It looks like a short bed truck, so probably more like an 8.5' camper. If Ford markets it specifically for that truck, I would assume that they're willing to accept any liability that may arise from doing so.

Liability-wise Ford can make it very easy.
They will list the camper on F150 with 200 lb cargo capacity including water and people. - Tom_AndersonExplorer

The picture shows 10+' camper with slide on the truck.
It has to be really light for the size to not exceed F150 capacity.
