In 2003 I traded my '99 V8 Mountaineer for a '99 F250 V10. It was an amazing difference in towing our little Pioneer 19T4. No more sway and the same MPG (around 10). It was a great truck and I think the Ford V10 is the best kept secret for towing. We now have a newer version of the V10 (2008 2 valve) in our Class C and still love that engine. The secret in towing with the V10 is to get the right gears, 430's or above.
