Since CW has dropped the price $300.00 thru June 19, considering a purchase. Does anyone here have any experience with this unit. Looks like it will be plenty of power for most of the RV needs, including 15000 ac unit.

What is the weight difference between the newer 3500 watt vs the orig. 3100 watt Champion inverter generator

We have the remote start 3100 watt version and it runs our rig's AC with ease even on Eco-mode at 7000' elevation. The 3500 watt version will have no problem running your AC unit. Our Champion inverter genny ran fine out of the box where we live at nearly 6K' elevation, but they recommend using a high elevation jet for use above 4K' which they immediately sent out after a quick call to their toll free service line. Their customer service is nothing short of awesome.

We have the 3100 model. Love it ran the 15k BTU AC most of the day last time we were out. Turned off the Eco throttle though. Not too noisy. The remote start is awesome. If I had to buy another I would get the 3500 model definitely.

Hi

I know the Yamaha 3000 sIEB has a "thirty amp" plug--but the generator can not do more than about 22 amps running flat out. (plus a boost of 500 watts for ten seconds).
Regards, Don
My ride is a 28 foot Class C, 256 watts solar, 556 amp-hours of Telcom jars, 3000 watt Magnum hybrid inverter, Sola Basic Autoformer, Microair Easy Start.

The OP is referring to the inverter model.

I don't think that's what OP is asking about.

Perhaps OP needs to download the spec sheet or worse, the schematic.

It's a stretch to think they'd put a 30a socket on there and not provide full power to it.

Exactly. If they put a 30amp socket on there, you'd think it would deliver a full 30 amps to it. At bare minimum the max the OP's suggested genset will deliver is 27 amps.

I think that would be a great generator! Many people were happy with the 3100 older version. The 3500 is fairly new, so not many reviews on this forum yet. I wonder if they might discontinue the 3100, since not a big difference between the two. It seems the 3500 is just more power, that will most likely handle 15K AC, under most conditions.

Might be some good sales coming on the old 3100?

Possibly. If all 3200 watts are available to the hot leg of the TT-30R receptacle you most likely can. If the output is divided among all the other 120V receptacles you might find the amperage available to the TT-30R receptacle is less than needed. At 120V, 3200 watts provides 27 amps.

Case in point: I got a great deal on a Generac 3250 a couple years ago. It was listed as 3750W start up, 3250W running. I thought that should be plenty to run the A/C or alternatively the microwave. As it turns out the genny kept overloading and kicked out. What I found was that model being a 120/240 volt model split it's amperage between the two hot legs. So, out of the total 27 amps that were generated, only 13.5 amps was available to each 120 volt circuit. So, under heavy load it couldn't run my A/C.

Granted, the Generac model wasn't RV specific but if I had done a little more research I would have found that discrepancy and looked for a genset that delivered enough amps on the 120V receptacle.
