On the surface you'd think it would be a total blowout in favor of the Duramax. IIRC the Toureg in the video is one of the no longer available V10 TDI models with 300+ hp and 500ish ft./lbs of torque. The Toureg is not a light vehicle, over 5000 pounds. Still lighter than the truck, but even if the truck had hooked up all 4, the little Toureg might have held its own.

Finally took the time to view that video (had to view the youtube version...that
link's site wants to drop too many cookies)

The Duramax was NOT in 4x4 and not enough know that the dash mounted buttons often
do NOT work. The interlocking mechanism to keep folks from destroying their system
malfunctions, often

And the front diff initiator is better than the GMT400, but it still has issues
with NOT locking up for some

Wonder it the Duramax owner is a fashion statement person? Bead locker wheels
or are they fake fashion statement versions? Betcha he doesn't even know what
a bead locker wheel is and the why of it all.

Unless he is running bead locker wheel illegally on pavement. DOT removed their
approval for pavement use a few years after they came out on the market.

Yes he "says" it's in 4wd but the video shows otherwise.

So what would happen if the duramax was in 4wd like the VW was. Look at the front tires of the suv they are spinning. LMFAO

Absolutely meaningless.
Who ever slips first looses. That has no bearing on being able to tow or haul.

I think those tug of wars are about traction, gearing and most important driving ability or lack thereof.

Why anybody would abuse a vehicle in such a fashion is beyond me, although I do like watching those world's....(fill in blank)....videos on late night TV. ๐Ÿ™‚

Watching people subject their vehicles to different 'tests' like the one shown is the primary reason why I don't buy second hand.

Heck, all he had to do was lock the brakes on the Chevy just like the VW did, once the wheels started to spin he lost all traction and easy to pull backwards.

I've worked on my grandson's VW Jetta and, while I used to think VW's were a quality product, I no longer feel that way. Just too much rubber and plastic in the engine and running gear that deteriorates too quickly.

I'm convinced. I'm dumping our Duramax and getting a VW to pull our trailer.
