I have a Ford DRW CC 6.2 hauling an AF1150. Together fully loaded we weigh around 13,700 lbs. To put that in perspective Ford rates my towing capacity at 15,500 lbs and my CVWR at 22,500 lbs.
This means I am far below what Ford feels the engine can pull up ( and down) a hill. Needless to say, the engine and transmission handles the weight without difficulty and I have found I can climb (and accelerate) up any Mountain pass at whatever speed I choose.
Another advantage is that the gas engine puts me below the 14,000 lb GVWR. The diesel would have put me about 650 lbs over.
I would expect the Chevy 6.0 would also perform more than adequately.
