Coleman Mach 3 A/C

I have a 2008 Jayco Pop up with a coleman A/C and the fan has stopped working. I was in Phoenix Az and it was extremely hot and I left the A/C on low when we went to bed and the next morning the fan was barely turning over so I shut the a/c off and tried to restart it with no luck. When I run the top down and started to fold up the water started pouring out of the a/c like it might have been froze up and was thawing out. Do's anyone have any suggestion as to what might be going on. Thank you for your help.

  • Low or no airflow due to faulty motor or capacitor will freeze up the evap coil. House AC is the same way. Capacitor is generally cheap to replace, if not, u should replace it anyways with a new motor.
  • It could possibly be the fan motor or the fan motor bearings have gone bad.
I think that you need to crank up the top and see what's going on now before
you go any further. An Amperage draw check couldn't hurt either.
  • Most common reason for icing is reduced air flow. The reduced air flow can be from a dirty air filter or running the fan on low in a humid environment.
  • Many times running on low fan will cause the evaporator to freeze up. But usually when that happens the fan is still spinning fast but there is no airflow. Now that's it's had a chance to thaw out you might lift the top and see what the fan speed is like.

If it runs fast now do like most people recommend and if it's humid out and run it on high speed.
  • if motor was turning slowly, i would check the fan motor capacitor
