Conflicting information in my E350 owners manual

Great deal! $1,000 even.. Only two scratches, ice cold front and rear air, clean interior,12 passenger but I pulling out the fourth row, and was never towed with.

I hope that you got a good deal on it. I sold my 2003 with 135,000 miles on it a few months ago since I just don't need it anymore and I was amazed at how much I got for it.

All this concern over break in makes me wonder about the ones used for Class C motorhomes, are you supposed to drive them no more than 50mph for the first 500 miles?

1st paragraph.........no towing first 500 miles and don't exceed 70 mph during 1st 500 miles of towing (NEW VEHICLE) Break-in period for rear differential

2nd paragraph.........no towing first 500 miles after rear diff oil change. ?????
Engineers allowing for oil/gear set to meld or misprint during translation

3rd paragraph.........don't exceed 50 mph during 1st 500 miles of towing because 1st speed reference of 70 mph is too fast to be towing.
Once again.......lost in translation

The English sentence structure implies English is not first language of procedures writer or of interpreters


Funny that with 173K on vehicle you are just now concerned with verbiage in owners manual :S :B

The last sentence of the first paragraph is what I was referring to

The first paragraph says don't tow for first 500 miles.
The third paragraph says don't exceed 50 MPH for the first 500 miles of towing, that doesn't sound conflicting.

I agree 100 percent i'm not telling when the vehicle is brand-new, and even taking it gently for the first few hundred miles of towing after that.
I just find it odd that on the same page it would suggest two different Max speeds during the first 500 miles of towing.
It's all kind of Irrelevant anyway, as the truck now has 173,000 miles on it, but I just can't imagine why it would be suggested not to tow after each fluid change.

Best break-in is to wait until you have 1000 miles on the clock before towing anything and drive lightly at varying speeds during the first 500 miles.

I wouldn't worry about it. Just be sure you use full synthetic.
