Cook stove grate to slick!!

The gas cook stove grate in our AF is so slick that the pans will slide of and onto the floor like they were on ice.
Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks
John

I have the VERY same problem in our 2009 AF 811.

We used to have an older set of cookware. Roughed up aluminum stuff. Last year, we were given a full set of Calphalon (sp?), nearly new condition. So we donated the old aluminum set. First trip out with the new stuff, I dang near lost a pot of spaghetti sauce onto the floor about half dozen times. I soooo regret my decision to donate that old set. Definitely wish I had it back.

There's no way I'm roughing up the grate on my camper. I tried hitting the bottom of the pans with various grits of sandpaper but haven't had much success. Calphalon has got to go. Looking for an older set again.

My Weber has a 1" lip around the grate. Works great!

Well, quit hitting the pans and maybe they'll stay be place.

I had the same problem with a Coleman campstove. I roughed up the grate with a coarse file and that mostly fixed it.

Last question... are your pans flat on the bottom? If they have a bulge....

I'd contact the manufacturer... they'd probably send you some new grates.

Sometimes the porcelain can be too slick. Like when trying to stir a pot, it would slide around.
Through regular use the burner will get roughed up anyway.

Why?

It is easy to keep clean the way it is and thats important to me.

Nothing spills or slides when level... and the fridge needs to be level anyway.

Good one!

Truth is... if the camper is level... make sure the stove is installed level... Janet reminds me that we saw a bad install in a Lance... the counter was off about an inch... at the edge where the stove/oven was installed. I'm not sure that the pans would have slid.

Nothing like that going on with ours. What brand stove did they put in your AF? What year is it?
