Cool down time for a Norwood?

We have started putting a big frozen ice pack (think what you had in your lunch box as a kid) in the freezer and Fridge when we first start it up. The freezer is ready to go in 2 hours (or you can just put your frozen stuff on top of the ice pack). The fridge takes a little longer but the ice pack in the freezer gets the element cooled off quickly. Once the freezer is good to go, put that ice pack in the fridge as well. As others have mentioned, don't have a bunch of hot soft drinks in there when you initially start it up. It will take that much longer to cool off. If you have cold drinks you can put them in immediately and it will help.

When we had Norwoods, we figured 8 to 12 hours. Wife always makes the freezer freeze a container of water.

Mine is ready to go in 8 - 10 hours, however i always give it 24 hours to be safe.

Our first stop when hitting the road is to the corner store for a bag of ice. We shove that in the freezer.

1- The fridge is nice and cold by the time we get to camp.
2- No food is harmed.
3- We have plenty of ice for adult beverages all weekend.

Mine takes about 12 hours. But, it is in a 1993 TT. I had some friends that had a newer camper and there fridge didn't even have a thermostat. You just slid the probe up and down on the cooling fins. There's took days before it get completely cold.

I help ours along by putting a few premade frozen stuff in the bottom. Also dont out in warm beer or sodas. A little fan inside helps a lot too.

We start ours about 24 hours before we intend on leaving. Use the Propane as it cools better (at least in our case it does) and is a lot more consistent. We usually can start stocking the freezer within 5-6 hours with frozen items and then the fridge 6-10 hours.

Always try to put frozen items in the freezer as this will help it cool down faster.

Once ours gets cold we can consistently keep the freezer at 0 to 10 and the fridge at 35-40 with no issues. We do keep it on propane while camping even if plugged in.

We have found the same thing to be true with ours.

It takes a while to cool down an empty refrigerator. Putting a six pack or two of something that is already cold from being in the home refrigerator into the camper fridge speeds thing up.

I have a wireless thermometer in our Norcold refrigerator and freezer. Within 5 hours after turning the unit on the refrigerator will be in the upper 30's and the freezer will be between 0 and 10 degrees.
