Cool Features on our New TT

We just purchased a 2014 Rockwood 8311SS Diamond Ed. Trailer. We ordered it from the dealer and it arrived today, but we don't actually pick it up until tomorrow morning. My wife and I got a quick look at it and it's a beauty. There's 3 things that I had no idea came with this and I have questions:

- Glass Top over the Stove: this is really nice, but I'm concerned that this is something that may break.

- Anti-Freeze hook-up on outside: this hook-up is in the same location as the fresh water hook-up. Have no idea what it is.

- Black Water Tank flush: I was going to have the dealer install a Black water flush until he told me that it already had one. Does anyone know how good the installed flushes are?

Thanks!
  • My built-in tank flush works pretty good. I guess it's aimed directly at the sensors, because it does a pretty good job of cleaning them up.
  • Is the glass top a cover for the stove top? The metal ones are usually removable so maybe that one would be too if it broke. We don't have a cover and it's fine without.. if it breaks you'll just be without. Guessing the Anti-freeze is for when you winterize... the black tank flush installed at the factory is probably better since it will be covered under warranty. My inlaws have one on their older MH and it still works as it should.
  • We have the black tank flush and have used it. Trouble is, it seems to have a bit of a leak somewhere - when we use it, water comes out from underneath the camper (!) Haven't noticed any huge problems with it or leaking into the camper, so we just don't use it very often.

My guess re: the antifreeze hookup is that it's for winterizing the water system. Haven't ever heard of doing it from the outside before. Just in case you're a newbie with RVs, do NOT use car antifreeze (blue) for this! :E

Re: glass stove top - interesting. You might want to put a towel under and over it for transit. We do that with the (glass) turntable in our camper's microwave.

Incidentally, Rockwood & Flagstaff are twins, and made in the same factory. You know it's one or the other at the end of the build when the decals go on. :)
