Cool Mods - Thread restored 10/18/2012

My daughter was getting a little warm in her bunk during our last camping trip, so I decided to put her a fan in to keep the air flowing.

I had been wanting to add a 12-volt fan to the main living area anyway, so I decided to tackle both jobs today. A trip to Wal-Mart for two fans($8.48 each) and we're halfway there.

She picked the spot, and I got to work -



I picked up the power from her overhead light. All I have left is to install a short piece of wire cover and I'm done -



I added one in the main area -



I dropped by Lowe's and found this cool soap dispenser. I also just installed these Pop-a-Toothbrush holders -



I added a sopa dispenser to the kitchen area as well. I also installed a Pop-a-Napkin under the radio -



Here's an easy mod. I found this over the door towel rack at Walmart and it works great -

Well, guess what I will be doing Saturday......This is a fantastic idea. I have plenty of windows, but this will save me constantly opening the main door to go in and out.

I don't think I have a picture fully loaded. I'll have to take one. Here is a pic with the kayaks and one bike.



There are usually 2 bikes on one side and 2 + a kids bike on the other. It is fun to load and unload 🙂 Everything is on three 78" Thule load bars with appropriate bike & kayak racks and a couple of sections of unistrut for me to walk on so I don't mash the roof.

Just found it at the local Appliance Store. I think almost any place that will sell appliances, i.e....TV's, Flat Screens...ETC will have them.

Make sure you buy one that has a way to lock it in place, that way when you're traveling, you can lock it. Mine didnt have this, but I have seen other mounts that have them, and I wish I would have bought that one.

One of the most useful mods I have done is adding a light and automatic swich under the lift up bed.

Also:
flip up kitchen counter extension
pocket door to bunkhouse
portable outdoor speakers
extra 12v outlets
storage tray under the frame for big blue tote, firewood, etc.
mud flap (waste hookup is behind the tires)
sensors on bunkhouse exterior doors, alarm in front bedroom
plug strips
night lights
reflective sun shade for shower skylight
tow vehicle roof rack for 3 kayaks and 4.5 bikes
working on extra outdoor 120v outlets
working on back up lights

I converted mine to disc brakes.
My custom disc brakes

I put 4 toggle bolts with machine screw eyes in the back of the cubbyhole area where the TV/VCR/DVD sits. I use bungee cords to keep the equipment in place while traveling.

I made some panels from 2x4s and particleboard to span the bunk. Now 2 kids can sleep up there without worrying about anything breaking.

I put in a vertical mounted paper towel holder, just like I did at home, easier to use and saves space.

Id like to build the microwave into the cabinet. It already fits like a glove through the cabinet door.

Id also like to build a bike rack to attach to the back frame.

I know it's not really much of a mod, but in lieu of putting on an additional plastic pipe for a sewer hose holder, I "de-rusted" my bumper by spraying the inside of it with the Rustoleum product that turns the rust into metal. I then painted the interior with rust preventing paint and voila - no more rusty sewer hose (at least for now). Time will tell if I need to go to a pvc style solution.

Working on another one and hope to have pics of it soon.

On my recently purchased TT, the previous owner created a Plexiglas door to replace the screen. It looks like he used rivets so the Plexiglas is not easily removable. It is getting really dirty in there. Did you make yours easily removable? If not, how do you keep the inside clean?


Well, never mind. I reread your post and saw how you keep yours clean. I might need to make some changes to my door.

Okay, I've been at it again. Tonight I finished my kitchen counter extension installtion. This shelf comes stock on my trailer i 2006-2008, but my 2005 didn't have it. It does now -
