My daughter was getting a little warm in her bunk during our last camping trip, so I decided to put her a fan in to keep the air flowing.

I had been wanting to add a 12-volt fan to the main living area anyway, so I decided to tackle both jobs today. A trip to Wal-Mart for two fans($8.48 each) and we're halfway there.

She picked the spot, and I got to work -

I picked up the power from her overhead light. All I have left is to install a short piece of wire cover and I'm done -

I added one in the main area -

I dropped by Lowe's and found this cool soap dispenser. I also just installed these Pop-a-Toothbrush holders -

I added a sopa dispenser to the kitchen area as well. I also installed a Pop-a-Napkin under the radio -

Here's an easy mod. I found this over the door towel rack at Walmart and it works great -

Finally got around to cutting dine storage access covers in half. Before, we hade to remove cushion and the full bench size cover. Now just lift one half and slide on top of the other one. Yup drawers are on the list but this was to easy to pass up.
Also:
Added two retractable clothes lines over tub

Added original equipment type light switch for rear view camera power

Removed and reinstalled bubble levels. They were off according to my 4 ft level

Added two chamber dispenser to shower

Removed and realigned shower hose to go up on shower wall side. It used to curl out into tub exit area

Instelled wood pads on jacks for larger footprint and to keep metal out of standing water on parking pad

Added hd signal booster/wingman

Replaced gutter spouts with longer ones

Replaced exterior storage door locks

Replaced factory queen short mattress with full size memory foam mattress.

Added 12v fan over bed

Lots more to go.

With all these great mods here on this list I thought I would pass on a tip for keeping your favourites.
I cut-and-past the ones I want to keep into a Word document - expecially great if there is a pic - then when I have 3 or 4 pages worth of useful information I save them and print them. This way I have a hard copy to show DH want I want on my honey-dew list:W and I have it to take to the trailer for reference.

Much easier then going back through 80 pages worth here 🙂

DH also made a ladder on Saturday (while at the trailer park...lol) out of the pvc pipe.
Our trailer has 2 sets of bunks and never came with a ladder and my youngest (8 yr old) had a hard time climbing up....well when I saw this pvc ladder last week I told DH this was a must. Our local pro hardware didn't have the t pipe in so we had to go to the Pro Hardware by the park. It is another great mod....she moved up the ladder with no problems and it takes up minimal space. We tierapped it to the bedrail that we have so that it is snug.

OK, here's my list so far (after 6 years of upgrading, tweaking, tinkering, etc):

Electrical (mostly done for boondocking):
Upgraded batteries to pair of Trojan T105 6V golf cart batteries
Upgraded converter to PD9160 3 stage converter with charge wizard
Upgraded wires going from converter to battery, to handle new converter's charging amps
Added 12V outlet (wired directly to batteries) in front bedroom for DW's CPAP machine to work off batteries

Plumbing:
Added Accumulator tank, so water pump wouldnt run as often
Changed piping to/from water pump to 'soft' pipes, to reduce vibration/noise
Installed drain plug in very bottom point of FW tank, to allow it to fully drain when winterizing
Built Sewer hose holder from 4" PVC pipe, mounted on top of back bumper
Quickie-flush tank rinser on black tank

Stability (when parked):
Built 'redneck wheel chocks' out of 4x4 post and threaded rod, very popular mod on here
Added mid-ship BAL C jacks between axles (detailed in THIS thread)
Built blocks from 4x6 post to use with stabilizers, mounted/stored on I-beam (detailed in THIS thread)
Built DIY stabilizer bars mounted onto scissor jacks to remove side-to-side movement, described, pictured HERE.

Miscellaneous:
Replaced bathroom doorknob with locking one
Built ladder and railing for rear bunk
Replaced heat vent in bathroom with 'diverter' type, that you can adjust opening on
Plexiglas inserts in screen door (VERY great mod, as already noted)
Attached plexiglas plates behind/around stove, to protect walls around it from backsplash, etc.
Upgraded all 4 wheels on tote tank to true pneumatic tires (detailed in THIS thread)
Built small rack on A frame that allows us to carry outdoor rug on it, behind batteries

Well, thats 'bout all I can think of, strictly with the trailer. Definitely some great ideas in this thread..

I went camping last weekend and saw a mod on a camper that was cool. They installed a spring type pull down shade on the inside of their camper wall just above the door. When the sun started going down they could pull the shade down to the appropriate level to block the sun without having to shut the door.

I just did the screen door mod. We absolutely love it! Used velcro to attach them. I used the middle grade type plexiglass from lowes, cut easily with my jigsaw. I think its called duraplex.

WOW...just spent literally weeks going through 80 pages of the mods and ideas here..great stuff! Hubby and I have been camping for 20 years and have just become "seasonal campers" so we started doing some mods to our '03 Rockwood Roo BH. Here is a list of what we did:

- LOVED the pexiglass on door idea, did it this past weekend while at the trailer and it's awesome! MUST HAVE MOD!!
- Hubby made 2 shelfs for undercabinet that's above dinette table, we wanted it airy so we used teacup hooks screwed into each corner of shelf and to bottom of cupboard then used gold chain to attach to each hook.....now the satellite receiver is closer to the tv (above the table).
- Hubby made a shelf above kitchen sink for, cell, change dish and small odds and ends....attached same way with teacup hooks/chain.
- Extra shelf below bathroom shelf for eyeglass/contact case, brushes (again same technique as above).
- Bathroom vanity mirror is too high for my 8 yr old so I bought a mirror from dollar store and velcrod it below.
- Add chip bag clips (with velcro) to the shower wall....now no more water to the floor when curtain is in the clip.

When we go back to the Roo in 2 weeks I will try and remember to take pictures.

Thanks for ALL the great mods!! 🙂
Lisa

In the process of fixing a couple issues with my TT, they ended up being mods. Now I am doing a couple more. I'll try to put pictures up later.

1. While tracking down my odor in the TT problem, I replaced the black tank vent cover with a new 360 syphon vent cover

2. After realizing the odor was coming from a bad seal that is not replaceable in the POS Aqua Magic V toilet, I replaced it with a much nicer Style II with china bowl.

3. My original bathroom vent cover disentigrated, instead of a cheap $10 replacement, I installed a new fantastic vent create a breeze. Wow does this move air!

4. My shower/tub has no ledges or shelves to put soap or shampoo bottles. I was setting them on the toilet lid. So I installed one of those stick up three chamber dispensors, and a stick up corner shelf. This was quick and easy.

5. Our tap water at home tasts horrible, and we have been places where the water tasts bad. 95% of the time we camp without hook ups, so no need for a external water filter. I had a spare faucet left over from a home RO installation, and a spot on my sink. So I bought a under the counter one stage water filter, some fittings and hose. I tapped into the cold line, through the filter to the faucet. So now, I have a faucet for filtered drinking water, without filtering wash/shower/toilet water.

6. My TT was a price leader budget model. Has a lot of nice features for the price, but is lacking in other areas. My overhead cabinets are huge. 13" deep, 16" tall, and over 4ft long. One is over the dinette, the other over the sink. They were completely open, and have no shelves! So we have just piled stuff in. This is anoying. Stuff jumbles around, bread gets squashed, hard to find things, and it is hard to use the full height because everything is stacked. To fix this I am installing shelves. I cut divider boards out of wood I had to go between the two doors to make two cabinets out of each one. Covered them with contact paper that matches. Screwed in pilaster shelving brackets to all sides, and am now getting ready to cut the shelves. Best compliment was when DW was sitting on the couch talking to me and said "I thought those dividers were there already" I said no, I just finished installing them, shelves are next. She said "they look like they have always been there" 😄

More to come, if I ever get the time. I want to hard wire in a converter so it is seamless with the electrical. I also want to add in an accumulater, I have the bottle, just need a mounting location, some fittings, and time.

I did the sewer hose storage mod today!

I added a counter top extension and thought I'd share how I did it.

I got the shelf through my dealer. It's from a shelf in another Keystone model that is also used as a counter extension and was the same pattern.

Since the paneling is just 1/4" thick a frame work is needed to make it solid enough.

This picture shows what it looks like inside the cabinet.

This picture shows two 1x4 boards that I screwed to the frame work.

This picture shows a couple boards I stuck in between the first boards in the area the brackets will be. These happen to be 3/4" plywood just because I had a couple scrap pieces that happened to be the size I needed.

The finished result.

This is how I store my sewer hose. Bought a vinyl fence post from Lowe's. Screwed an end cap to one end and hinged the other. Made steel mounts for both ends. I had to shim the hinged end to clear the gas pipe that runs along the frame.
