Yes to covering - it is not a pain, of course dealers don't do it, and if my manual said don't cover it, I'd disregard it.
I'm not sure about pulling it covered though. That's a tough spot. Maybe ask the CG what they recommend. I've been happy with my ADCO cover. Follow the directions and it will get good service from it.
