Delays in camper buiddate

Called to get an update for my Host Cascade build. I signed the papers March 31, I was given a build date last of September, first of October. Build date has been pushed to end of October, first of November. Obtaining materials and components are causing the delays. I'm now thinking I may not even have my camper by the end of the year. Just venting. Barry

We have ended up today in Beaumont Texas. Nothing special, just a lot of traffic thru San Antonio and Houston. We are next door to Gator country. Looking forward to trying some crawfish for the first time. Barry

We spent a couple nights here in Junction, Texas. We are glad we picked this quiet place. We found some good bbq at Cooper's bbq.

We hit the road tomorrow in hopes of making a few more miles towards NC Barry

Today was a travel day that ended up getting us to Van Horn Texas. My truck is handling the cascade really well. I cannot tell the difference in it and the snow river before it. Snow River was 12.6, the cascade 13._4 in height. That is something I will always be conscious of. Our cascade is set up with the L shaped dinet with the two reclining chairs. They are very comfortable for my wife and I. Bed area has a window on the driver's side and a wardrobe on the passenger side. I wasn't sure about that when I ordered but it has turned out to be useful. Sitting room in the over head is a non issue for us as we are both around 5'8". My phone does not always print what I type. I just need to proof read my responses. I am a slow keyboard pecker. It probably took me a bit over ten minutes to compose today's post Barry

I'm curios which style dinette arrangement you got. I saw there's several styles available. I never could figure out which one would be most useful for my needs.

I looked at a used Cascade about a month ago because I happened to see it as I drove by the local AF dealer. I couldn't believe how much the dealer was asking for it. The price was insanely high for a used camper. It was ugly because the previous owner stripped all the graphics off the exterior.

Based on my observations, it appeared the floor level of the camper was at the same height as the bed rails of the truck - is that correct?
The basement of the Host campers is pretty tall.

I'm enjoying the pics and thoughts on your Host.

The earlier post about the thread title has been interpreted wrong by most that have read it, based on the replies people have posted.
The way that post is written, it easy to understand what that person is saying. He was simply stating that the two words are mis-spelled and run together as a word that doesn't even exist - buiddate.

I'd like to hear more thoughts on your Host Cascade as time goes on.
If I'd have seen them before buying my AF 992, I'd have probably bought a Cascade instead.

I'm curious if you've gotten empty weights of your truck and then weight it again with the camper loaded.
I'm sure the weight would put me way over the GVWR of my current truck.

The sloped nose at the head of the bed look's like there's very limited head room for sitting up in bed to get out of bed, etc. What's your thought's on that?

NCMike, yes, permits for cape lookout this year. We will be there for the fall fishing tournament. I'm really looking forward to putting the new camper on the beach. Stop by and introduce yourself, always great to meet new friends. Barry

Thanks, I'm not very good at trip reports but really enjoy and appreciate others that report so professionally. Last thing I ever want do her is to offend anyone. This trip has been great so far and only gets better with each mile we travel. Untill you drive across this US you really can't appreciate the vastness and beauty of our country. We are heading east on interstate 10 still cold but no ice and snow, 25f this morning Barry

I agree, please don’t pay any attention to folks that have nothing better to do than be rude to others. I’ve enjoyed reading your posts and I look forward to hearing more about your trip home in your new camper.

Like you, we live in NC and we camp and fish at Cape Lookout ( did you know you have to pay for a beach driving permit this year?) and enjoy having more free time in our lives to see and explore.

Don't worry about one person having a bad day. If it bothered him that much, he could simply put you on his block list and never see it again.

I looked at a Host Cascade at a local dealer. It was used, and abused. The previous owners used it really hard. every nook and cranny hard dirt and grime build up in it. Other than the extremely high price for the condition, it was a nice camper. Well, except for the sparkly table and countertop that looked a lot like the flooring at the airport in Vegas.

8 months later and the thread title hasn't been updated to say Build Date instead of buiddate.

We are in Quartzite. Wind is blowing about 40 mph. We have been in the Cascade since about 1:00. The Recliners in the camper are way better than expected. It's been a very good day wating out the wind. Ran the fire place for a bit so wife wouldn't be cold when she got out of the shower. She is very happy so far.
