I'm not a big Ram fan, but gotta admit biased drama gets old. Here's another perspective:
I'm with you on the biased drama, but even those numbers in the image are pretty sad. I know that the "1/2 ton" etc. monikers are somewhat obsolete, but I also think it's reasonable for a pickup marketed as a "1/2 ton" with 4 doors should be able to handle a family of 4 and carry 1000 pounds in the bed without overloading. Many "1/2 tons" of all brands fall well short of that.
Ok, weird side note. I turned on the TV today the Brady Bunch was on.
They had a Dodge Station wagon around a 73 vintage. (looked like a big block? :B) It was towing a pop up tent trailer.
My point?
They were going to the Grand Canyon and that sucker had the whole family including Alice in it!!! :E
A little math now:
Mr and Mrs Brady= Lets say 300 lbs
Alice= 150 lbs
Bobby and Cindy: Mmmmmm 75 apiece = 150 lbs
Peter and Jan= 125 apiece= 250 lbs
Greg and Marcia 125 apiece=250 lbs
That is 1,100 LBS of people!!!!! :E :E :E :E I know, I know, Marcia might have been a little under 125 but lets not quibble here. :D
Plus they had a ton of camping equipment on top of the luggage rack!! Remember those? Then they had a BIG tent trailer on the tail!!
It HAD to have over 1,500 lbs of payload on that thing! I just thought it was interesting that this 70's wagon could do this and.......awwwwwwwww never mind. :W
Anyway, pretty cool memories of when big block wagons roamed the planet.............that could hold 9 people!!! :)
I saw that, also. It is a '71 Plymouth Satellite wagon with a 383, and factory A/C.
