Do I have the camper package?

2004 F250 Super Duty 6.0D short bed. Looking at the springs, there is one on the bottom, a stack of 4, then a single flying above that. Is that a factory helper spring? The only other clue I see is that the rear window is a slider. Looks like with Lance's smallest- the 650, I'll exceed the GVWR by 500lbs fully loaded, BTW. Photo on next post!

Thanks, Bedlam and Grit dog. Good info. I've got the sway bar so looks like I have the "camper package". The Torquelift Stable Loads look like a good idea. Looking forward to getting into little campgrounds again!

Heavier front springs, rear stabilizer bar and rear upper overload springs is what you get in that era of Ford’s camper package - I had that setup on my 2005. 2004 was the last year that used smaller brakes and 16” rims - Watch your rear tire ratings when selecting a camper. If you can find 18” dealer take offs from a F350, you will have about 7200 lbs available on the rear axle of which about 3000 lbs will be taken by the truck.

Always fun to hear people compare things that have nothing to do with YOUR truck ( the OPs). However, OP, by that pic, you have the most springs you can have from the factory under your truck.
Throw a sway bar on it and some stable loads to get your springs working sooner and that suspension is good for at least 3000lbs without any airbags to increase capacity.
And fwiw, your not going to find more spring rate under most any new srw truck.
If you go with a newer F250 you'll have a lot less factory spring rate.
Or get a new truck. Running 6.0s that haven't had $5-10k of engine work are a better ROI than the alternatives.

Getting rid of the whole truck when all it might need is some stiffer springs and a bolt on sway bar seems a bit abrupt.

Part of the reason is that model with the diesel and 4wd doesn't have much extra weight capacity. Plus getting a newer truck is always fun.

I looked up the vin on the ford website and got nothing more than the name of the truck color but I'll try the dealer. Thanks.

The Ford Truck forum guys suggest looking for a sway bar too so I'll do that. Looks like the most practical thing to do is get the camper and if the truck doesn't measure up, get a different truck.

Camper package would include rear sway bar and heavier 600-800# front springs (F250 SRW).
Really hard to say 'looking' at rear springs, what you have would be on a truck with camper package, but also others (or not part of camper package).
The rear sway bar (less than Ø3/4") if factory might lead one to think it has camper package. Front springs I visually couldn't tell difference unless side by side...
Camper package comes with single sheet of paper in glove box listing cargo rate- or window sticker listing installed option if original owner kept.

Which book?
Taxation book, or engineering book?
They seem to be long way apart.

We discuss that Ford test in the past only to find tons of BS in it.

Ya well, there is a ton of BS in most discussions about the right truck camper for a pickup or visa versa...There are those that just go do it and adapt and those that go strictly by the book.

That's the net for 'ya..(laughing)

"For the test" doesn't mean you can buy that thing.
For my 2017 F350 dually, the only change with camper package was heavier front stabilizer bar.
Rear stabilizer bar is standard with all duallies at least.

When the options could change over the years, the only difference with Ford camper package is sway bar.

In 2017 Ford ran a test for carrying a truck camper which included the camper package..

For the test, we added the Camper Package which includes higher spring rate in the front, a rear stabilizer bar, and a rear auxiliary spring.
