Dodge Ram 3500 SRW Max Payload????

Hi,
I am looking to buy a one ton diesel truck and need a high payload for the trailer I am looking to get. I am pushing the limits of a SRW but really don't want a dually so I want the highest payload I can find with the features I want/need.

The truck will be a crew cab and probably a long bed and I am looking at the Laramie package. I realize that all of these options reduce the payload.

For any of you who have this truck can you tell me what your DOOR STICKER says for max payload (along with whether your truck is a crew cab, etc. The F-350s I have looked at that are similarly equipped are around 3200. I am hoping I can get a bit higher than that.

thanks
Matt

What's you GVWR, my SB RAM is 11,700. LB are 12,300. Chris

I just looked at my door sticker. My SRW sb 4x4 crew cab diesel has a carry capacity of 3322 and a gvwr of 11500. The rear axle rating is 7230. I weighed my truck and with 3/4 tank of fuel, B&W hitch and a 215 lb driver the rear axle weighed 3473 lbs. So I will be good on the rear axle rating with up to 3750 lbs of pin weight. If I was worried about staying within the gvwr I'd have to stay under 3050 lbs of pin weight. (Total weight of truck once I add in my wife's weight is 8450 lbs.) How much weight can be added to the Dodge 1 ton SRW rear axle?

I'm not so sure about that; my truck with 3 of us in cab, full of fuel and fifth wheel hitch is over 9,500 lbs. But with 14,000 GVW, I still have plenty of wiggle room......:B

License it properly and you can actually load to your RAWR.

DOOR STICKER says

My door sticker is just over 4000lbs with a 2016 Bighorn CCLB SRW Cummins Aisin combo. This also includes 5th wheel prep and wheel to wheel running boards. Have yet to weigh it on a scale but was quite happy with the stickered payload when i received it.

F350s are usually 11,500 or 11,400 gvwr. RAM has the higher payload because they have 800lbs more GVWR there for adding that much more to their payload.

So if someone were to load a 3500 SRW to max payload it sure wouldn't leave much wiggle room on the tire capacity would it ?

I have 14,560# worth of tire capacity and 12,300 gvwr. Still a little wiggle room.

Not really what I was referring to. If one were to load full payload they would be around 7000lb on the rear axle. With the average 18" 10 ply being 3640 per tire that's awful close for me.

I only bring it up because I have approx 800lbs to go before I'm at tire cap and I thought that was close until I started looking close at 3500 SRW specs.

Don't you think they have a safety margin built into the tires? They sure are not going to pop with a few extra pounds.

The ratings are test at the speed rating. My tires are rated at 106 MPH. I try not to run over 100 just to give me a little wiggle room.

I will toss ten cents into this line of thinking.
Our 2001 Ram 2500 stock OEM tire 245/75-16E rated at 3,042# ea. rear GAWR is 6,084# so while Ram only gave this truck a 8,800# GVWR, you can load the rear axles right up to the max tire rating. I will say I do have the Optional 265/75-16E @ 3,415# ea for some wiggle room.

Not showing off, just stating facts. You have more wiggle room with the dually.

Isn't the Ford's "official" GVWR lower?
