Dual reverse camera setup. Want 1 to be wireless.Please help

Take a look here. Many options. I was able to make up my own package at a great price. I would avoid the monitor that hangs on the rear view mirror. There was a great deal of glare. It washed out the image. I exchanged it for a dash monitor with no problems. I am happy.

This could be done with the system I have from Rear View Safety. It has a box that has 3 inputs; I use one for the camera on the back of the tow vehicle, and another input for the camera I have on the trailer. As long as the wireless system has a video output, it could be cabled into the box. Mine are both wired - I have not had good luck with wireless cameras over the distance to the rear of my little 17' trailer so I wouldn't count on finding one that works on a 26' one.

I checked their website & it looks like they are using a different system - I bought mine 4 years ago. You might give them a call; their tech support is quite knowledgable...

Why would i need a video out for a wireless camera.. Kinda defies the whole point

Unless you have a monitor that has a wireless input, you are going to need to convert the wireless camera to video to get it into the monitor. While they may exist, I don't know of any wireless monitors that take 2 video inputs, particularly one that has a wireless & wired input like you said you were looking for.

Many wireless cameras are 2 part - the wireless camera & a receiver that outputs a video signal. I've seen installations that put the camera on the back of the trailer & the receiver in the back of the tow vehicle, then use wire to get to the monitor. That cuts down the distance needed to be covered by the camera.

In my case, the connection for the trailer's wired camera to the tow vehicle is a round 7 pin truck type trailer connector. Way over sized, but with occasional cleaning with a DeOxit spray, it has worked well for the last 4 years.

FWIW, I believe the wireless systems are getting better and it won't be too much longer to production for the lengths we need. There may already be such a device and I haven't found it. Until then, wired is considered a lot more reliable. Neutrik makes an acceptable connector and is easy to terminate--UP65 connector

I have a wireless camera with a large screen- that is activated via the reverse feed, then another camera that I can turn manually on with the video input button on the screen. Works for me.

FYI.. that cubby cams prices are outrageous

I appreciate all the info and advise. To answer why i want the TT to be wireless. I just feel that video connections exposed to weather and road******will quickly lose their good connection ability and then lose signal. The wireless i used was a cheap system he had on his 22' RV. So maybe 18' distance from camera to monitor wirelessly. It was a great picture. So i assumed by adding maybe 10-12 feet extra would not make that big of a difference. Maybe i am wrong thinking that. If there are good, solid, weather proof video connectors then maybe i will change my mind.

I am a journeyman electrician and have installed TONS of coax (rg6) and know that the connectors i normally see would suck outdoors and on the road with continuous connecting and disconnecting.

Another option is to run a wire to the front of the trailer and then use a video transmitter. The receiver could be hidden in the back of the tow vehicle. I hear the 2.4 Ghz transmitters get a lot of interference but the 5 Ghz ones don't. I already have a hard wired camera and I'm thinking of this setup to eliminate the extra step of (dis)connecting the video cable.

I just helped a friend install a camera on the rear of his 26' trailer. It does not have a reliable wireless signal to the monitor in his F-150. I use a wired system from my trailer rear view camera; just 1 coax to connect besides the regular trailer connector.

What is the reason for the aft mounted camera to be wireless? I'm planning a similar system and have found there are a few good reasons to hard-wire it all.
