Dually Outside Measurement to Jacks Each Side

As my fenders pass the front jacks (with the jacks swung out), I have just about 1" on either side. Keeping that in mind, also tells me that I am pretty straight while backing in.

G'day Sleepy, thanks for PM response, that you have about 1.5 inches between fender and TC Jacks.

With new Eagle Cap 1160, I will probably have about 3" on either side, but the tolerances are about the same with most TC's basement between the Truck bed wheel arches.

I am about to make decisions soon on new TC & Truck, so keen to check all the permutations & tolerances.

To go with new Truck & TC, or stick with what I have already and paid for.

I have a very good current TC & Truck, with excellent offroad capabilities.

Will sleep on it tonight.

My Ford is 96 inches across the fenders. I have about 1.5 inches clearance on each side with the Happijac swing out brackets on my Bigfoot 10.4. On the Bigfoot 9.6 (from 1998) I had about 3/4 inch on each side, and that was after spacing the jacks out an additional 2 inches.

The tailgate opening is 60 inches, the camper box widens behind the wheel wells to 57 inches. Forward of that the camper is 47 inches, and there are 50 inches between the wheel wells. I have built a centering device that leaves a little less than 1/4 inch on each side in both places. It is a few pieces of plywood fit to the bed so they cannot move, with 2x2 cleats glued/screwed to them, 10 deg bevel to guide camper box in, HDPE plastic covered to prevent abrasion damage. Confining the space, and providing long lines to line up with, has actually made it easier to load - very easy to see which way to go and how much. This is what it looked like before painting and putting the HDPE on:

Cant imagine with thr 102" width of camper your considering jack clearance would be a problem. I had lil more than an inch on right, now with jack stabalizers the bracket is less than 3/8", my camper width is 94". Still not an issue, As you say-at the very left rear is an access box for plumbing that protrudes-getting the right side jack to clear and not hitting the protrusion at rear is. On new camper I cant see with added jack clearance you couldnt back under wherever you needed to clear any box protrusions.

Not that new truck & tc wont work-81 gal of water amazing, and a couch..but getting the widest camper made, extending the camper out the back, out the sides, up and increasing weight by 1500+pounds, not counting the new truck. Seems a bit in the wrong direction, at least what off-road conjours up in my mind?

What would you think about mounting Eagle 1160,
4281 lb TC on 2012 Ram 3500 diesel crew longbed and being 700-1000 lb over weight?

I was going to add Super Springs, the 1700 lb model.

Umm im thinking youll be closer to 5000#? Thazalota camper. Youll have the potential to add 1350+lbs just in liquids, easily passing 5000 before gear-having a hard time wraping my head around those numbers...

ChrisnKaty, Tell me new 1160, with swing out brackets on TC to Fender is about 3 inches either sider, when loading, but like Sleepy's Truck guides, and will build when get new Ram 3500 and Eagle Cap 1160 TC. Thank You All for your help. Douglas & Rose.

On my first BF11.6 1987 It was always a pain getting the camper lined up.After a few off and ons I came up with a solution The distance between wheelwell in the bed was 49" and the camper floor is 46". I made 2 2x4x6 peices and beveled the top inside of each one. I also shaved them down to
give me 48.5 between when laid aginst the wheel wells. I back the truch in as
best as possible and lower the camper to about 1"to 2" off the deck I take the 6' pcs and slide them in from the sides and letb them rest between the wheelwell and the camper. I shake the camper alittle side to side and the 2 stud center the camper. Done about 5min Let er down and have a cool one.
Also about 40 years ago I stopped using all these crazy tie-downs and started using 5/8 Braided nylon -7percent stretch- line a clevis to take up the slack a couple bowlines we are on the way The set on my beach camper- BF- are on ther 12 yeasr.
