Eagle Cap 1165 owners

Hey there,
I'm curious what your REAL weight is loaded. I'm considering one.

Now, I know a lot of folks will want to chime in with what they guess it is, "Oh it's this dry, so it must be that wet", and "Well my EC 950 is this wet".... I'm looking for 1165 owners with real weight slips.
  • I'm the OP for this one---
I was surprised when I saw this old post come back to life.....I've since bought an 1160 since posting this last year.

    See sig....
  • I like my EC1160, very spacious centre floor area, you can even dance, according to Greg, from AMLRV.com/Adventurer LP. But needs smaller wardrobe to get a Cabover window on both sides of the bed. Great bathroom, tonnes of storage & cupboards, lots of big windows(1160 & 1165), lovely Gel-Coat, very heavy, but very happy!
  • I own a 2013 Eagle Cap 1165
Go to the Eagle Cap owners forum 2011 and newer for all this information and more.

I realize you wanted real weights from actual owners and I'm not one...but I can tell you that Eagle Cap's website weights are pretty honest. It says 4525 dry. Take that and add water (> 600 lbs w/75 gals!), propane, booze and other stuff and you'll get within a couple hundred pounds.

We haven't been in one yet, but you bring up a good point. I hate using the gas stovetop in our 5er. I would rather use my electric frypan. So the 1165 U-shaped kitchen is still my favorite. Can even watch TV while doing the dishes. ;-)

The kitchen layout in the 1165 doesn't seem too useful, unless you never cook anything in it. There's no place to even set a spoon while you're using the stove. Plus who wants to turn around each time to grab something? I guess it works if all you're after is the island look for a wet bar. :)
  • Go to the Eagle Cap owners forum, I think the same question is out there too.

Have you thought about visiting the factory in Yakima?

Those are nice campers, Mony (the GM for the old Eagle Cap) gave me a tour of the first 1165 and was willing to give me an awesome deal. Should of grabbed it! Kitchen layout is different now and better in my opinion.

EC makes an awesome camper, but I am biased too.
  • There's a member on the forum that got one in May.
He's made a first report but didn't include weight.
I've responded to his post with your question - it's an question I'd like to have answered too.
