I have a NuWave induction cooker. Although, it is not really camping food I sometimes put a roast, pork chops, or chicken in it with some cream of mushroom soup (or French onion) and vegetables and put it on low for a few hours. Easy to make and it keeps everyone fed.

Another thing to do it to get some cubed steak. Then you tear off a piece of aluminum foil add some of the steak with some diced potatoes and vegetables of your choice. Then you add a little cream of mushroom soup (or french onion) along with a shot of water, rap the whole thing up tightly and put it in the coals of the campfire. Make several personal sized packets of this and everyone can add their own favorite vegetables and eat it when it is ready.

I have been looking at style cooker does it really do that much better than the old trusty 12.00 coil type countertop cooker ?

I am assuming that your 12.00 coil cooker is like a electric stove ? A induction cooker like the Nuwave is a heck of a lot faster then a electric stove !!! Not quite as fast as gas, but close. It also uses less electricity. And, they do not get very hot, a little residual heat from the pan is all the heat they have. I love my 2 so much that in my house I got rid of the stove. I just have these 2 Nuwave induction cookers, a microwave, and a toaster oven.

The disadvantages is that since they use magnetism to get the pan hot they will not work with aluminum pans. Most pans are made of aluminum. You have to use stainless steel, or cast iron. The Nu wave cookers I bought came with a few pans. I found a few more locally. .

We used to make a pot Pozole and take a mess of flour tortillas. Just warm it up and scorch the tortillas in a skillet..........instant chow.

I smoke a brisket and pork shoulder a few days before we leave home. Wife portions the servings into the seal-a-meal and then the freezer. At the camp site we heat the meat in the seal-a-meal pouch in hot water. Open the pouch and the meat smells just like the day it came off the smoker. Pulled pork or brisket is good as sandwiches, in tacos or salads. Add some sides of veggies, fruit and nice quick easy to prepare meals.

We try to minimize cooking and prep time but still have good meals.

not a meal but a great sidedish
Cheesy taters in crockpot
1 bag 26 to 32 oz frozen hashbrowns (can be reg or the chunky country style)
1 can cream of chicken soup
1/4 cup fine chopped onion (i use a whole small onion)
8 oz sour cream
1 stick butter, melted
1 1/2 cup shredded cheese - i just use the whole bag of the 2 cup bag-
you can use cheddar, taco, colby jack, mexican or any mix you like of cheese Ive tried all kinds .. original recipe called for cheddar..
salt and pepper

mix all in a bowl an toss in crockpot
spray the pot REALLY GOOD with non stick spray or use the crockpot bags. They are easy clean up while camping..
cook 4-5 hours on low or until taters are done.In a hurry ive cooked it on high for an hour then medium for till done..
alternative is in the oven 350 for 50 min.
We have added cut up sausage links to it as well sometimes an its really good. Just add that after its almost cooked as the sausage will take over the flavor.
My daughter adds cut up leftover hotdogs cooked on the fire to her plate and mixes it up. She likes it lol..
I mix it up at home , put a twist tie on the crockpot bag an put it in the fridge. Then after we get set up i open the bag , put it in the crockpot and turn it on.. Good to go for supper..

My wife will cook meals and freeze them. We eat the same meals we do at home.

When I am in a hurry I cook Alfredo noodles and add chicken breasts or if it is just me canned chicken.

We have done foil dinners. Take the hamburger, potatoes (sweet and white), carrots, onions, peppers, mushrooms, let everyone make their own foil dinner. We have several seasonings so everybody can choose what they like.

Its almost tradition, to have what we call "cowboy beans" the first night we are camping.
We go to the coast for Thanksgiving, and depending upon how many days the kids have off from school, we spend about 7 to 10 days. It can be colder and windy there and usually will get rain with some kind of storm. The first night the Dear D will make her Cowboy Beans, its easy quick and warms you down deep.

One of our favorites (at home and camping).

Boil spaghetti (add a bit of salt to the water and a cap-full of vegetable oil).
Put boiled spaghetti into a baking dish (9x12 inches or bigger).
Pour on top a jar of Alfrado sauce and mix in.
Lay on top 6 to 8 chicken patties (no bones)
And bake for 20 minutes at 350 degrees.
(or over an open fire with a cover on it, or a BBQ grill, cover the dish if you do).
After 20 minutes, take the pan out, (you want the spaghetti to be just slightly crusty on the top, but not much), sprinkle a very generous amount of 7-Italian shreeded cheese, and a pinch of mild colby (yellow for color). Heat again for about 5 minutes to allow the cheese to melt.

Cut into squares around the chicken patties and .... OH ... Enjoy!

Very, very easy, to do and ... OH! So good!
