The Ford has the advantage of being about 700 to 800lbs heavier than the Chev. Also the Ford is a crewcab with a shorter box with more weight over the rear wheels compared to the extendedcab Chev.

All that proves is one the guy in the Chevy can't drive, two the Chevy most likely has bald tires and three the Ford has a smart driver and good tires!

Notice the Ford still had his brakes applied till the Chevy's tires started spinning? Then just eased off the brakes and on the throttle. Like I said Ford smart driver, Chevy not so smart.

Old bull, young bull you know the rest.

Don

Actually, Don, bald tires would help, not hinder a truck. The more surface area you have on your contact patch, the more traction you have. The sole reason for treads on highway tires is for rain/snow.

I agree that truck pulls are useless, while I'd much prefer to own the Ford over the Chevy, this 'display' doesn't matter to me.

The winning vehicle in all of these pull-offs has nothing to do with power, it's all traction.

I cringe every time I see one of the tug of war videos on pavement. I wouldn't even do it in dirt, but geez the guys sure are hard on their trucks.

My view....why would anyone abuse his truck getting involved in any one of these tug of wars.

Reminds me of the jokes that start with the line..." hold my beer....and watch this..."

That's entirely possible with an open front differential.

Not unless it has an open transfer case too.

A truchk with an "open" transfer case is in 2 wheel drive.

I don't know, to me it looked like there was smoke coming from the left front tire. Why in the world would a guy enter a tug of war and not put his truck in 4WD?

Very true. Here's a sweet little Land Rover diesel literally smoking a mighty Dodge Cummins. And yes, the Dodge is in 4WD, you can see tire smoke from the left front. Obviously the Rover has lockers and the Dodge open diffs.

The whole idea of 4x4 is the front tires get the same rotations the rears get. Fir the rear to spin a tire - lets assume it is spinning at least 30 mph, the two front tires will have to spin the same speed. both at 15 mph, one at 5 mph, one at 25 mph, one stopped the other at 30 mph etc.. for the front to sit there doing NOTHING, there is no power to the front.

Video was pointless but fun to watch.. But it is true, the Eco does have amazing torque. Being able to tow my 7500lbs up 6-7% grades at 2200rpms with the cruise set between 60-65mph just amazes me. Until the new diesel 1/2 tons hit the road and can show what they got I still say there is no other 1/2 ton that can compare to the Ecoboost. Especially a piece of chevy 1/2 ton.... j/k ๐Ÿ™‚

My truck can pull 8,000 lbs up a mountain faster than a Peterbilt 579, therefore my truck is the superior tow vehicle.
