Anyone want to do the 150 or so mile El Camino Del Diablo route from Yuma to Ajo in the beginning of March?

I don't want to do this one solo with my family, would be nice to have another vehicle or two around in the event of a mechanical, etc.

I work every Fri-Sat-Sun and would want to go Mon-Thursday.

Maybe, can someone make clicky's out of the links? I'm computer challenged when it comes to that stuff. Also a explanation on how you do it so I don't have to ask again, if I understand.

Looks interesting to say the least! I checked out all your links and the photos. I'm always well armed but don't intentionally venture into areas that are "infested" or otherwise known to be particularly suseptable to criminal activity. I.E. some neighborhoods are not worth seeing, all things considered.
That said please post another one of your excellent trip reports if you do the trail. All the best.

It is a nasty dirt road. Very dusty, very washboard and in areas very congested. You would have NO problem taking any med to high clearance vehicle on the road. It does narrow down in some areas, but your dually would fit with just a few mesquite scratches on the fenders.

150 miles of dirt/sand that many do in 2wd. Doesn't look like anything too crazy.

What exactly is it like? I mean is it a jeep trail or? With a F350 dually and a Lance 1181 there's just some places I can't go! But otherwise sounds interesting.

Not to worry, you will NEVER be out of sight of the Border Patrol, US Military or US Fish & Game Officers. That is the most heavily patrolled section of the border I have ever seen. We made the run on our Quads recently and was just amazed at the resources that are deployed in that corridor.
