Have 330,000 on my 2009 suburban 5.3 . Pricing out New motor for the future . Can get New motor installed for around 6500. My mechanic had a 2012 f150 he was replacing ecoboost motor on, and he told me that motor replacement was 11,500 with new turbos . Was thinking that was crazy expensive! Is that really a realistic price for replacing those motors?

Can’t comment on the ecoboost, but the GM 5.3 should be cheaper in my experience.
A truck, a camper, a few toys, but most importantly a wonderful family.

Maybe for a race series short block and some additional work, but I suspect there is more to it than just a short block swap at that price. Or maybe that mechanic has to buy some metric wrenches to work on it so jacked up the price? 🙂

I would think that if he is high on the EcoBoost, he would also be high on the 5.3. Shop around. $6500 does sound high for a 5.3
