Enough with the recalls

Well for 5 weeks in a row now I have gone out to the mailbox and each week had a recall notice on my truck. Security recall, drivers airbag, passenger airbag, steering wheel harness and now steering box plate welds. I was about to make an appointment to take it in but I think I should wait another couple of weeks and see what else comes in. This truck has been perfect since day one plus it drives and tows like a dream so I hope it stays that way and yes its a Ram. But don't puff your chest out if you have something else because I work with a guy that has a new Ford F-350 and he is going through the same thing. I guess none of them can get it right the first time anymore.

recalls means the auto industry is paying attention to their product after it leaves their lot. That is a great thing and no one should complain about that!!

Wasn't that long ago when manufacturers would decide to not do recalls knowing customers will die as a result.

I have all of the recalls too and the track bar one just came this week. I have looked at the welds and they look just fine so I am not at all worried about it. I'm thinking it may have affected a small amount of trucks because I have yet to read about anyone with poor welds.

I too am OK with the fact that they are making good on potential issues. I absolutely love the truck so I can live with it. I am still not happy about the vibrating POS General tires though....:M

Just bite the bullet and throw on a set of MS2's!

So far no recalls on my 15. Maybe 3rd year is a charm.

It's really weird how some of these trucks act with same tires..I too have OEM Generals on my truck and have never had a vibration or wobble issue..I've heard complaints about these tires, but also other popular brands...Guess I've been fortunate.

EXACTLY! My Dad's 12 LongHorn Dually 2wd has the Generals and at 25K his are wearing good. No rime or reason to it.

I have General Grabbers on mine, and they are very smooth running, at all speeds. My complaint, they GRAB rocks, when driving on gravel, and throw rocks, when you hit the pavement.

The OEM General's on my truck were fine as well. 37,700 out of two of them, and 44,500 out of the other 4. Probably could have got a few thousand more, but I didn't want to worry about a problem.

I know there are some that claim 100,000 miles out of a set of tires on a diesel truck, but I have never seen it myself. My average since I went diesel in about 1999 has been around 40k out of a set of tires.

I'm happy to say that my Sienna has had only 3 recalls. Two up until this week (power windows switches).

The difference with RVs - they generally don't recall them. 🙂

I am leasing a 2014 ram 1500 and recieved the same recalls. It's funny I got a new truck to stay AWAY from the shop. Oh well, at least it's not my dime plus when my truck is in they let me test drive anything on the lot for fun.

I bought their 8 year/120K bumper to bumper warranty on my new RAM. These trucks have become so complex now that one is foolish to mess around under the hood or do anything else that would void their warranty. The last warranty I bought was in 1981 on a VHS tape deck. Never needed it, however I kind of think I will get my money back in spades this time.

Chris

I agree, but Cummins/ Aisin is a very reliable combination you probably won't need it , but it's nice to have that security

AND a lot of the components are outsourced, a lot to China, India, etc where it's tough to control quality. Sure, the auto company can provide specs, but those companies the work is outsourced to are cutting costs too.
