I'm looking at purchasing an F150 Eco Boost with Max Tow Package (FX4). Not an owner, but if I was ordering an F150 with Max tow, I would also get the Max payload!! You get better (E rated tires), and 7 lug wheels!

ThanksIt looks like you will need the maximum payload capacity in order to hitch up to the trailer, then have some passengers and other cargo. Also consider that you might have this truck for 10 years, and might get a larger trailer in that timeframe.. . Go for the heavy duty option now, it will only cost you about $1,000 more to get it right now, rather than trading up to another truck in a couple of years. . . So it might take another few weeks to have a 2015 show up, but who cares, you will have the truck a long time!To tow, it is recommended that you use 91 octane gas. It depends on what you want to haul in the bed of the truck. I didn't get the HD payload and have no regrets, but I don't haul a lot of stuff in the bed of my truck. My truck has a payload of 1794 lbs. and the only time I weighed, loaded for camping (with a trailer of about 6500 lbs) I was well under on all capacities.Now, for how it pulls: In a word, WONDERFUL! I just returned from Colorado and New Mexico and it amazes me how effortlessly it pulls hills. This trip I didn't do any of the 11,000+ passes, but we did get up over 10,400 and it was no sweat at all. The thing I really like is that so much power is available at less than 2,500 RPM. On the highway, you can just set the cruise and listen to it hum, rarely will it shift down to 4th gear. Regarding fuel: Earlier this year, I used almost all 89 or better octane when pulling, but ended up with a tankful of 85 one time and could tell no difference. This trip I never bothered with higher octane at all, heard no pinging, had plenty of power, and fuel mileage was about the same 10 mpg average as usual. In fact, for the 150 miles or so downhill miles from Santa Fe to Tucumcari on the way home, she registered 12 mpg. I was grinning from ear to ear!

I'm happy with my Max Tow equipped F150. Does everything I need. You will love the way it pulls especially in the mountains. Mine has 1800 payload and hauls the wife, me amd our camper just fine... over 10,000+ towing miles fine...

The lower level payload truck will probably be OK: - Did you check the rear axle rating? - I suspect you are underestimating your cargo loading, so you are probably right at the limits.But if you are buying new, why not leave yourself a little room to play with?

Above, one of the posters is talking about the ride and that it might be stiffer. As stated, I have the CrewMax, 4X4, Ecoboost with HD and it rides better than our Cadillac. Yes, it rides BETTER, much BETTER, and that is whether towing or not. I am considering trading the Caddy in and getting another truck for my everyday vehicle.

Actually i think the max tow pkg comes with the 4050lb GAWR, the non max tow pkg has 3850lb GAWR, and the HD pkg has 4800lb GAWR..

This guy is on an Ecoboost site that I'm on too and here is his stickers... No Max Tow on his.. Same rear GAWR as mine, but a tad lower front GAWR.

I don't think there is any rhyme or reason with the ratings anymore.. Just load it and hope for the best is about it! :)

Get the payload pkg if your buying new. You will have to get an xlt or lariat but you wont run out of payload and the option dosent cost much~$800. I have a crew xlt with 2580# payload with a 5.0. Mine is 2wd and the eco weighs a bit more so you would end up with around 2200# or so in an eco 4wd.. The ride is not punishing at all. Slightly firmer then a standard f150. Only down side is you cant get the blingy wheels if your in to that kind of thing.

I'm driving almost the same truck your looking at. My trailer is 33' 9" long and 7500lbs(loaded). My hitch weight is 940lbs(loaded). I wish they offered the HD payload pkg in 2011 when i bought mine. When hooked to the trailer I'm close to my trucks GVWR(7700lbs) with very little in the bed of the truck. So i just have to keep track on what i load.
Other than wanting more payload i absolutely LOVE this truck!!!

I've got a Max Tow XLT SuperCab 4x4, but it has some additional options from a 'standard' XLT, but I've still got a #1920 payload sticker on the truck..

Too bad it only has the #4050 rear GAWR.. Same as non Max Tow F150's have, so no advantage there really...

It's all a numbers game dance as far as I'm concerned with it all, but I'm not anywhere near the max ratings with my 13 where I was over a few on the old 97 with the same TT..

I'm happy with the EB and highly recommend them if that's what fits your needs..

Yep, you just have to look at the stickers and so forth. My XLT has all the nice XLT options, the payload sticker says 1450# or so. I don't have max tow or HD payload -- just the regular heavy towing package.

I love towing w/ the EB. The best compliment I can give is that I don't miss my Duramax (diesel) when I've got the trailer hooked up to the F150. I can't say that when we are towing w/ the naturally aspirated Suburban!

Unloaded, I'm actually pretty happy with the mileage as well. So the EB has met or exceeded my expectations thus far. If we are still a towing family in a couple years, we will probably replace the 'Burb w/ an Ecoboost Expedition EL.

I doubt that such a list exists since there are so many variables. There will be overlap between trim lines based upon options ordered. An XLT with all options might weigh more than a base Lariat.

That's the XL model that will get you a 2310 payload. XLT will have less, Lariat will have even less, etc. etc.

Does anyone have a link to the curb weights of each trim line? I can only find a generic weight for the crew cab. Nothing that provides a weight for the Lariat, XLT etc.
