What's the point of the comparison if you are going to handicap the Ego Boost with cheap gas.
That is the point that some just don't want see.
Then go by an Ecoboost and you will find out that a lot of what you are saying just isn't true and it will tow the rating of the F150 fine with 87 octane. Until then, you are only going on assumptions that you want to be true instead what is actually true.
I have been quoting the owners manual, Ford says the things that you question.
Yes, you have been quoting the owners manual but you don't seem to understand the difference between "It will perform slightly better with premium" and "It will self destruct without premium". Either that or you can't grasp the concept that I am a tightwad and am unwilling to spend the extra money for premium but I am willing to live with the reduced performance.
I have no dog in this fight. I don't currently own either truck.
But I was interested in seeing a comparison between the 2 very popular and desired trucks.
However I don't see how you can do an accurate evaluation without both trucks being optimized. How does allowing the Ego Boost operate a less than full power impact the comparison and the data.
I understand it won't self destruct on 87 octane that in not the point of the comparison.
I guess I would like to see the comparison be as accurate as possible vs. being slightly off because the F-150 was tested slightly off.
There are plenty of variables in this comparison that we cannot control. However we should take care of the variables that we can, like using the factory recommended octane rating.
Sure one can choose their own variables and data points but ultimately that only blurs the validity of the comparison. The reduced performance
may be fine for daily use, but it negatively impacts the comparison.
In order for the comparison to be beneficial, both vehicles should be operated, configured based on factory recommendations otherwise the results are not accurate as they could be.
If there no attempt to make the comparison accurate, What's the point of the comparison?
